Wow a visit to our home today from Immigration while our Pending I-485 goes on

Big News for this October filer.

Two immigration officers came to our house today unannounced. I am of course at work. My mother that also lives at my house invited the officers in. They were there to see our home and that we indeed lived together and were married. They asked my mother some questions, Were we happily married, in love, etc.

They wanted to see our bedroom, bathroom, closet and my daughter’s bedroom.

They interviewed my wife and daughter as well.

Not a problem at all as we are married and do live there together of course.

Next Monday we were to hit the 60 days since our interview date and would have been able to open an investigation as to the case status with a 30 day response period.

So I assume we have overcome the final hurdle and should receive our approval soon.

Glad to see some movement in our case.

If they are showing up at your house evidently they have some pretty serious concerns about the validity of your relationship.

The only documents I did not have they would have liked is a joint mortgage on the house or joint auto loan. Nelly has not finished learning to drive and I already have two cars. Little hard to refi a house these days in our wonderful ecomomy.

I don't have either in my husband's name either. Owned both prior to our marriage. Is there a huge age difference between the two of you?

I obviously could be wrong but I think its the race more so than the age, in this case.

Something I am worried for myself ;) Wife is Caucasian.

I am 51 and my wife is 38. She is from Colombia.

I dont think it has anything to do with the race.Maybe someone called USCIS and said that the wife was not honest in her intentions. Maybe they looked at their pictures and saw a older man with a young pretty wife and felt it was "off".

It doesnt matter as long as they saw that there was a marital relationship then there shouldnt be a problem.

A problem would have been if there was no evidence of marriage at all or just one pair of shoes and a toothbrush.

4/2/2012 Green Card In Hand!

Unbelievable that my journey took this long but Im thankful

Next Stop Premed...Yup!

3/24/2014 Application for conditions to be removed

9/22/2014 APPROVED without interview.

I agree. I do not believe the age difference is a red flag for USCIS or DOS IF the man is older and the woman is 10 - 15 years younger. I do believe it is a huge red flag and closely questioned when the USC woman is much older (10 - 15 years) than the foreign man.

Not my issue at all, just what I perceive based on many postings read.
