Well I called USCIS today, since today marks exactly 5 months since they received my petition. They told me they could not put in a service request for me since I am still within the normal processing time. She said they are working on petitions that were received August 21st, 2010. I asked her when will I be out of the normal processing time and she just said that I should just keep calling back, but that it may take 45 more days for me to be outside of the normal processing time.

Does anyone recommend a time when I could call back again? Thanks. :(

ohh yea you'r right..hehe.. yes he called them yesterday and today we got RFE..not know yet whats the RFE about..

Oh and just a quick question, when he called yesterday, did they actually put in a "service request" for him, or did they tell him he was still outside of the normal processing time. If you got the RFE today maybe it was a result of a "service request." Hm, just wondering.

I'm sure your RFE is just something very small, don't worry too much just get what they ask for and get it back to them, then your NOA2 should be just around the corner! Good luck to both of you.

Call them Monday. Often one phone boy will do what another one will not do. They are totally disconnected from reality and from each other. Yes, the system is that bad.

I have called these uncaring and incompetent fools every other day since our 5 month mark on Feb. 16. They have been saying that they were working on Aug. 21 every time since then. I guess that it means that K-1 petitions are a low priority for them right now.

One can only guess what their highest priority is. Maybe taking naps, or going on long vacations during the winter months, or better still granting amnesty to illegal immigrants.

Some people have succeeded in getting a service request put in at the 5 month mark, right? It seems like I've seen that on here. And some people that filed after me have already been approved. I'm happy for them but sheesh they should at least put in a service request at 5 months since they are approving others who filed after me, right? Do you know when you are considered "out of normal processing time"? Thanks.

J & K have you succeeded in getting them to put in a service request for you yet?

Too bad she wasn't more precise, but what can you do but to follow her advice? So...put the number on speed dial and do exactly what she said--keep calling back. You might have to sleep sometimes, though. Maybe they'll understand after your 170th call today that they should give you a better answer than "keep calling back"...
