Few questions...

When the moscow embassy gets the stuff from NVC, do they send out a paper in the regular mail, asking if you have papers ready and signature?

How long that takes?

Please let me know the process if anyone dealt with this...

After the confimation NVC letter (docs going to Moscow in next week or so), the next thing I saw was a posting on the Moscow web site. It was just updated today with interviews thru 31 Oct.

You can check here: http://www.usembassy.ru/consular/iv_dates.php

I do not know the other answers. We are making plans based on the interview date listed on the web site. I took all the needed docs over in my last visit, so she can just use those or use them as examples to fill out packet 3 whenever that arrives.

The Embassy will mail her a packet explaining the next step of the process

I.e. Medical examinations, what documents to bring Etc.

The biggest reason for denial is NOT having all the necessary documents. This does not mean she is outright denied. Often times the Embassy will tell them you are approved pending submission of the required document.

She will get the packet 3 which has all her stuff, but remember, you still have to send financial "proof" of support. (I-134, maybe some bank statements and paycheck stubs or tax info. Etc.) Send your stuff out NOW!!!

As far as the interview, it will take about two or three weeks from the time you get NVC confirmation for it to get on the website. That's the best way to find out when because it'll be on there before she gets the packet 3. (Most likely.)

The lawyer part is just to mention the source--not to brag! The VJ Guides have similar information, but I don't know if it's exactly the same. And if I were to do this all over again I would definitely NOT use a lawyer, and save a whole LOT of money, but I didn't find out about VJ in time. Slim,

My fiancee had some problems getting the police certificates. The local police was not being very cooperative with her. SHe had to go several times to ask about these certificates. They finally just decided to help her. I don't know what to do now. I ask her to call the Embassy and ask what can she do. The K1 visa approval expires on NOvember 7. How did you rescheduled your interview date? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cesar

Cesar,

If your fiancee is scheduled to have her interview on Sept. 21st, what is it that expires November 7th? Or, did she have the interview already and a visa was granted with a provision that she must get the police reports by Nov. 7th in order for an actual visa to be issued?

I'm not understanding what's going on here.

Either way though, she has to get the police reports to get the visa. She can, however, proceed with the interview without the police reports and they will approve the visa contingent upon her producing a clean police report. However, I called the embassy directly and requested the interview date be pushed back because "I needed more time to coordinate the trip and settling in here because of an ill family member." (Which is actually true, my dad recently had surgery and was in physical therapy for a while and required a lot of my help around the house. I didn't want to be like "hey Elena, welcome to the U.S., now help my dad put his socks on.") They didn't get into details or anything, just said they would make a note on the case and told me the next available interview date right then. I believe the number I called was 1-888-222-5673.

Let us know more about what's going on, and good luck!

As far as Nov 7 being the last day she can travel to the US....I don't believe that for a second. Once she has the interview and gets approved for the visa she has a minimum of 6 months to travel. I don't know what the problem is with the police certificates as my girl got hers in just a few days, but I think she paid a little money to expidite the process. Is she going to the correct office? You need to call or e-mail the embassy and get the extension or clarification about the dates. I am sure the embassy will work with you and you shouldn't have a big problem.

Good luck

Don't worry about getting the certificates, yet. She will need them, but there's no need to do anything to expedite the process.

She can proceed to her interview next Thursday without the police certificates and complete the interview like normal. The only difference is at the end, when they say "OK. You got the visa." They're going to say "OK. You got the visa as soon as you fax us your police reports."

That was the scenario when Elena was going for her original interview. She didn't have hers either. I called to reschedule the interview because of other reasons, but she wouldn't have had them and it was no big deal. The C/Os in Moscow know how the Russian system works... they work with them on a daily basis.

Have her call the embassy (the number is in her packet 3) to verify this, and if not, you call the embassy and give some bs excuse about changing the interview date. The K-1 expiration date should not (not an expert here) matter as you are "grand-fathered" into the system. The only time limit that matters is once the visa is approved she enter the U.S. within 180 days and the two of you wed within 90 days after that.
