Helo again!

I am just a little concern and alarmed with the recent interview result of one of our VJ members. They were sent home and asked to furnish further documents. And 1 of the document that the Embassy asking was the OFFICIAL COPY OF THE DIVORCE PAPERS.

My question really is for those Petitioner out there that was DIVORCED and got K1 Visa approval if they had to furnish and provide OFFICIAL COPY OF THE DIVORCE PAPERS???? I need all the help and info that i can while i haven't got my interview date due to the temporary closure of the USem till March 8, 2011.

I hope to hear from you all! thank you!

either a copy you have or get from your lawyer which is signed by the judge and the clerk of the court. Or just go to the courthouse and request a copy. This is a certified official copy. It is usually good to get this copoy from the courthouse. As it bears the seal of the state and certified status from the court.

and yes, 99% of the time, at the embassy you need an official (certified) copy of the divorce papers.

K-1 Visa Timeline:

09/18/2011 - POE, Viva Las Vegas, Baby !!!!! Home to Phoenix.

12/10/2011 - Official Wedding

07/05/2012 - Princess Rose born.

07/07/2012 - AP/EAD received.

07/17/2012 - AOS passed. (Birthday for Mama Rayos)

Something I have wondered about is if they prefer the 'divorce certificate' or the 'judgment of divorce'. I didn't even realize at first that there even was a 'divorce certificate' but then found out that most (all?) states have the county courts send the divorce information to the state as a certificate of divorce. This is a one page document. When I found out about this I was able to easily get copies for each of my previous divorces. It doesn't contain all the messy details of division of property, child support and visitation issues, etc that are contained in the judgment of divorce. The main advantage was its brevity, being a single page. So I sent the certificates rather than copying the long and complicated judgments of divorce. I am still waiting for my noa2 so I don't know if I did the right thing. Anybody know for my sake and that of the OP if this is a good way to go or not?

Yes you want to have it for the interview...if they dont want it there, the CFO will. That is what happened with my wife. I had to send the USCIS a certified copy of my divorce decree. That is probably why the embassy didnt ask to see it during the interview.
