I looked at my case status. On the bottom of the page is the processing times. You select the form, sub-form, and location. It told me the national average goal is 5.0 months. The current national average is 13.2 months. the service center I am assigned to is 5.0 months. The reason for this skew is the national benefits center is reporting 40 months. Texas, Vermont, and California are all reporting 5 months. A center reporting 40 months, makes a huge skew in the National average. (5+5+5+40)/4=13.2 Some of the delay is background, checks, national security checks, etc. This is a homeland security check, which is FBI, local police, state police, and credit reports for both people, children, and families. Now I understand why the process could be long. They are loking for indicators or issues of threat to Homeland safety. The touches are probably checking for approvals of background checks. Having a passport for your fiance may help the process go quicker in some countries for background checks. any thoughts?

Ok, I am pretty sure that I have the "VJ syndrome" you see for the last 10 days I have been looking at IGOR's list and we were at first #177, then one day we were at 174 (yes!!!) now today 10 days later we are at #180, yes, it's a true case of VJ syndrome! So is there a cure???? Lee

Well, I never looked at the VJ igor list until now. I am number 408 and there is no one below me. But I do not place stock in such things. It is based on if you are processed in order. Which we all know does not happen at the service centers. Igor's list seems a bit skewed and needing better data refinement. It does not take into account how many processors at each site, Nor does it place special intuitive attachment to those with RFE's. RFE;s are special handling. An RFE is immediately processed when received back in order to get the case approved. Yes, I may wait until my number comes up which could be July to August. However, I do not expect that to be the case. Watching the It would also be interesting to see actual working days of the federal government versus calendar days. Then adjust for those who have asked for expedite, those who were granted and those who were denied. Igor's list is very, very basic. There are a lost of variables which should affect the list but are not accounted for.

Igor's list is just comprised of VJ memebers, right? Not all possible filers. And also VJ member's data inputs may or may not be accurate. Is that right?

I'm assuming.

10/17/2008 - First Contact via message in CB

03/15/2009 - Engaged

05/15/2009 - First meeting in person (I traveled to Philippines)

10/05/2010 - Sent I-129F package to Fiancee VISA service for review and forwarding

12/08/2011 - Interview - Approved!

12/20/2011 - VISA in hand! (Never showed up in 2go online tracking!)

01/04/2012 - POE San Francisco(SFO)I met her there.

01/05/2012 - We're Home!

02/14/2012 - Married Valentine's Day 2012!

05/04/2012 - Mailed AOS/EAD/AP packages via FedEx ground

07/26/2012 - EAD/AP Combo card received

This is correct. People put far too much stock into Igor's List when it depends on entirely too many things.

..and take into concideration USCIS's deadlines for i-130 too, especially the ones that got moved around so national trend vs. one specific service center isn't reliable IMO, especially when it does not change and they're not admitting to a backlog.

Anyways, touches are everything. Basically, all you know is that you're case isn't lost and someone was around it doing more than thumb wrestling with a co-worker nearby :)

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I disagree with the statement that touches are everything. Touches are meaningless. I didn't get touched at all between my NOA1 and NOA2, yet some people got a handful of touches and got approved after me.

True - I think I should've written they can be everything between here and there. Maybe I should have made myself a bit more clearer however that was what I was referring to when saying you don't know anything but someone had the case in their hands.

Actually, since you just sent in your petition you have a very good chance of being approved sooner than later. The CSC is pretty much ignoring petitions filed in October in favor of petitions that have just recently been filed. You would be best served if you very quickly get all of your ducks in a row and be prepared for an early approval.

Granted, CSC might get their heads out of their collective @$$es and start approving October petitions, but better for you if you are ready for an early one if the current trends hold.

touches are not meaningless, they mean something is going on in the service center, some progress is being made, but just not towards and specific case.i personally was not touched even once, but we have to be realistic

@gretchen_darren: Are the dates in your signature correct? You first met online this past Christmas Eve.. <2 months later on the day of your first physical meeting you also became engaged?

The dates caught my eye and seem to conflict or just seem illogical and unusual. Please clarify - thanks!

2-11-11 | I-129F sent

2-16-11 | NOA1

6-06-11 | NOA2

They are meaningless. Nearly everyone at VSC got touched in early October and it meant nothing.

why include it if its meaningless?and please dont give me " it means someone spilled coffee over your case and it caused a touch " explanation.thats even worse than saying its meaningless

Posted

It can be something as simple as boxes of files being moved from one storage room to another. No action on a case, simply a movement of the petition. That's what I assumed happened at the beginning of October when everyone from VSC got a touch on the same day. Those cases then went on to sit for months without anything else happening to them.
