Hey everyone,

I've been married for almost 3 years now, and when I got married I took my husbands last name. I changed my last name on all documents when we got married, except for my passport. I just thought I would wait to change it on there when the expiration date ran out. So my passport is the only thing I have my previous last name on. I know that when I file the I-130, the name on the form has to match the name on my passport, which is fine. However, my last name on my danish residence permit shows my new last name. Do you think everything will still be okay when filing if I attach a note explaining, and if I show our marriage certificate, and all other supporting documents with the 2 different names? Let me know what you all think.

Thanks for your help,

KRH

You've answered your own question here. It needs to match so you'll have to change your passport.

Thanks British Bird,

However, I'm still looking for an answer to my question. Yes, I know that the name on the passport has to match the name on the I-130, but will it be ok if I file the I-130 with the same name as my passport, but with a different name on all other documents? I have all supporting evidence and proof ready to be attached when I file, that shows that I took my husbands last name, but just have not had it changed on my passport.

Thanks again,

KRH
