Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the correct discussion pole for this topic, but here's my question. I'm in USA on a CR-1 visa. My wife and mother-in-law co sponsored me.

I was working full time until 03/01 -> i then of laid off. Will it affect my 10year GC application if I apply for unemployment? I paid my taxes etc

Your comments are appreciated.

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

No, unemployment is not considered a "means-tested" benefit. It is a form of insurance.

Unemployment is not a means tested benefit, it is something actually Unemployment Insurance that is paid into on your behalf by your employer(s).

Also, just a heads-up: You are not in the US on a CR-1 Visa, you entered using a CR-1 Visa and are now in the US as a Legal Permanent Resident (with Conditions). The Visa was done the second you used it to enter the US.
