So we received a notice in the mail today that our I-129F expired. It's our own faults for not watching that, though we've been gathering the info as fast as we can.

Anyway, looking at the sample letter VJ supplies it says this:

From: (Your name, address, phone, SS number)

To: (Name and address of consulate)

RE: (name and vital data of your fiancé, including I-797 approval notice number, date of birth, address, phone number)

My first question is: the "I-797 approval notice number" is that my receipt number from the top left hand corner of my NOA? Or is that the number just above my fiance's name when it says "Beneficiary xxxx-xxx-xxx" ?

Second question: The letter we received from the embassy said that we need to provide our reason for requesting an extension.

The example letter says nothing about this. Our reasons are just that it's taking us time to gather our documents (neither of us are living in our home countries). Should I just put that at the bottom before I sign it?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Left top...that says receipt number is the approval number. The one you are looking at where the benefeciary name is her Immigration number when she become a Naturalized US citizen.

If the letter you received states that you can have a reason to request an extension then send them one. It does not matter what excuse you can get and let them decide what is the best thing for your case. If they approve it then you are one of those lucky one....goodluck

The receipt number yes is the one in left hand corner. The number to correct Dahlia near the beneficiaries name is the beneficiaries Alien number for visa. You let it expire so expalin your situation and that you are finding it hard to compile information and hopefully they will allow you to extend. Or if it is taking yoou this long maybe you should think about leaving it till you are back in the US and so it then.
