I have a question regarding the joint sponsor..we have filed for AOS..and we are still waiting. It's just something that i have to clarify.

let's say if our household number is 5,that includes me( the intending immigrant) and my original petitioner's income is short of 5k for 125% above the poverty level for household of 5,i understand we will need to get a joint sponsor..

my question is, will the joint sponsor's income should be nuf for household of 6 or just for 2? (let's assume the joint sponsor doesnt have any dependents)..

Just two. The immigrant and the joint sponsor (plus any dependants of course)

I have roughly the same question. What do they look at; the tax records, W-2s, letter of employment or pay stubs. If my tax records show that I consistently earn 3 times the 125% of poverty guidelines, will they look further? I think it is just overkill!!

This is a thread hijack because it's not the same question... but i'll answer anyway.

The ONLY requirement is the most recent years tax return (which is 2009 until April 18th this year when it will be 2010) AND proof that you're still employed (earning the same amount as in the tax return). Used to just be tax returns (that's all Tony and I sent). So whether you send a tax return (which includes all schedules, w2s and 1099's) or a tax transcript (which is MUCH better in my opinion) is up to you.

There's an AOS thread in my signature that should help you.
