I am soooo sick and tire of this process... I am nervous and under LOTS of stress right now.

My lawyer says we are going to have a ROCKY road cuz we don't have a lot of convincing pictures...

Why do pictures matter so much anyway? We are just not photogenic and we just couldn't find any picture from our on-and-off relationship of 5 yeras.

We don't even have pictures with our fam...ughhhhh

And then the lawyer says because we have a same group of people for the photos AND the affidavit forms, it doesn't look good...

I don't really understand what he's saying...

I am just worried that they won't approve of us ONLY because of the photos...

I just want to hear how much evidence you guys have submitted.

I am under so much stress... :(

Please help me out here!

Photos are considered secondary evidence. They want primary evidence of keeping a relationship/marriage on going spanning the time your together.

Photos are just a portion of the evidence reviewed. Do some reading in the regional forum as well as the spousal visa forum to gain an understanding of what is tyipcally submitted.

Our lawyer said the same. That our pictures didn't showed alot of physical contact. Not sure what he was asking for pictures us showing our tongues down our throats. When its not in us to do those things in public or showing off pictures like that. We gave normal pictures of us, some wedding ones and some with family. We still got approved.

Sounds like the lawyer was making lawyer talk. Affidavits, wedding pics, and ticket stubs/photo copies of passport visa stamps are all we submitted and we did fine. Maybe, me thinks, the lawyer was trying to make his job look more important/harder than it is by keeping you on edge. Anyhow......you'll do fine because you're a sincere and honest person from your posts.....Best of luck!!!

Thanks! And we didn't have a wedding ceremony... we're saving money to have a big dream wedding in 3 years when we are both out of school...and the lawyer was just being really critical... i know that he was trying to be helpful and prepare us for the interview but everything he says just makes me think as if USCIS will try every way to separate us. This process totally took a toll on our relationship too.. :( we've never really fought before this process but these days it seems like we get on each other's nerve all the time. I really hope to be done with this process ASAP!! I want our life back!!

It may seem as though the attorney is being critical but they want you to be as prepared as possible to show that you two are a couple and improve the chance of success. The photos won't get you approved by themselves but you may get that one CO who loves to look at photos. You don't need vulgar photos; wedding photos, simple snapshots taken while visiting a memorable place, etc. And you don't even need that many...our CO looked at 4 or 5, each taken from different visits, and moved on to other things. Good luck.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

USCIS will try every way to separate us.
USCIS deals with approval of the petition. The "evidence of bona fide relationship" is for the consular stage. Click on "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy" atop this page, and read stories from others who have been through your consulate. Also, make yourself known in your appropriate Regional subforum (see partway down the main Forums page), and you'll surely get some meaningful consulate-specific tips.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The husband and I have an album of wedding pictures, but we only submitted 2 wedding photos of us standing with friends after the wedding and we submitted vacation photos of us together. After 2 years of dating and 7 months living together if a photo journal is required then I don't have it. We don't take pictures like the younger generations do, snapping Facebook pictures of new hair styles, or parties, or friends they meet on the fly, and if that is required then we won't be approved. My husband's interview is a week away and we are both at the end of our rope. Stressed over the physical he went through, stressed from work, stressed over planning a home, stressed from imagining several scenarios depending on a total stranger's opinion of our relationship and planning our options. This CR1 visa process where we must live apart so that I can work from the US to show I can support him is more stressful than any relationship I have ever been in. Any relationship has it's growing pains, the misunderstandings, the give and the take, they all play a part in two people growing closer. But to have your relationship scrutinized by a stranger, submitting personal correspondence, private photos, keeping a timeline on your life, and expecting a total stranger to classify your relationship as 'acceptable' or 'not acceptable', 'valid' or 'invalid', well... it goes against everything I believe in.

So, good luck if you have too few photos, too little correspondence, too little of what is needed to show you have a 'valid' marriage. I guess you could go to the mall with your spouse and each of you can try on a year's worth of clothing like the teenagers do, have the salesperson take photos of you with that cell phone... submit those as proof that the two of you wasted hours at a clothing store to prove you have a valid marriage.

Sorry for the rant, I have too few photos as well. Our interview is in a week, so I'll let you know if that was an issue

Apologies if I state in a comment that my husband and I have been together for years & years. It's just that I can hardly remember a time when he and I were not together.

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! We are currently in Administrative Processing with no time-lines to guide us!

My husband is looking at cars in Trinidad for me as his wish has come true! Me a Trini-Wife!

BUT

I will call DoS weekly to check the progress and I will not give up hope.

July of 2011 is the cut off date for us, when I will either start construction on a home here in the US or return to Trinidad to be with my husband.

Dont be stresful. My fiance and i also dont have many pic. From the three times of his visiting, we only have about 10 pics. We dont like to take picture esp. him. We would not take pic if only we didn't remember that it would be useful. Take it easy, just take pic starting from now. As much as you can.
