Just a question people. My daughter and her boyfriend want to come and visit me here in the states but rather then just holiday they want to come and work 3 months and then got to Europe and work 3 months. They did a compromise and want to split it up so they can see here as well as Europe and UK. I am not sure but think they have to be sponsored here to work> You can't just come to the states and travel around and work like you can in Europe?

She has been on USCIS and it says a HB2 visa> Does anyone know of this that can help me out. My daughter is in Australia.

Thanks Barbara

Nope they will need a work visa, such as H2b, H1b or a J-1.

I know they need the visa but am not sure if they can just work freely with that visa. I am pretty sure they have to be sponsored or have a specific job to come to. They both work in hospitality and can work restaurants and bars

What is a J-1 Visa?

A: A J-1 Visa is issued for an Exchange Visitor who is participating in an established J Exchange program pre-approved by the State Department (formerly pre-approved by USIA). Exchange Visitors under J-1 visas include secondary school and college students, business trainees, trainees in flight aviation programs, primary and secondary school teachers, college professors, research scholars, medical residents or interns receiving medical training in the U.S., certain specialists, international visitors, and Government visitors.

They will have to be sponsored by a specific company for the H2b and the H1b visa.

Google is my friend.

Barb....look into the student visa....not sure when they are coming but it might work for them....

There was an organisation up in Noosa (sunshine Coast) that was assisting people like your daughter to obtain a student visa...catch - they need to be studying....but the visa organisation people in oz will explain it better.

Other option is you get your nice looking husband to petition for them....might be a bit expensive.... but I asked Officer in Sydney re my son and what happens how do I do his residency after he turns 18 then after he turns 21 etc....its doable...let me just put it that way.... xxx lyndal
