Masha'allah...so the NOA2 came in the mail today (was approved 2/24). Now what?

-How do I know if it's been received by the NVC?

-And how long before we can expect Packet 3?

-Do they give an interview date with Packet 3 or not until after you complete the forms and send it back?

I'd appreciate some insight insha'allah. Thanks

Also it says: Valid from 2/24/2011 to 6/24/2011. What does that mean?

Where does it say that?

Also it says: Valid from 2/24/2011 to 6/24/2011. What does that mean?

You might get an NVC notice that they received your application and forward it to your embassy, you might get and RFE from NVC ( Ireally hope you dont), or your case might be directed to the embassy, it really is different for every case.

check your embassy website. after I got an NOA2, I wrote my embassy right away for additional instructions. It depends on the country about how long should you expect a packet 3 to arrive. IN my country for example, we have the packet 3/ packet 4/ sent together.

here is a link to what your embassy says:D

it means if you dont here anything about your case till then, you need to call the uscis, cause for the interview @the embassy you need a valid NOA2 and yours expires on 24th of June. so it is expected that you are gonna have your interview scheduled within that time frame.

That's strange though, I don't have anything like that on mine about valid dates, and I've never heard anyone else mention it before.

I can only speak from my experience. After I got the NOA2 email, it was received by NVC 4 days later. You can call them to confirm it's arrival. 7 days after that, Casablanca had it. It took 3 weeks for us to get packet 3. Casablanca does not issue a packet 4. They send you a list of doctors and labs, tell you to get the medical exam, and the interview letter comes with the packet. They also tell you what other documents to bring to the interview, and you don't send anything in, your fiance will turn it in at the consulate before his interview. For the doctors, I recommend Dr Khadija. They have a lab on site and it's very close to where your fiance will need to get his xray done, in Casablanca.

Good luck!

How did you know when it arrived in Casa...did they email you? And did Packet 3 come three weeks after the Noa2 email or 3 weeks after arriving in Casa? Also how far did they schedule your interview from the date packet 3 was recieved?

Thanks everyone for all the good information!

Thanks everyone for all the good information!

The NVC gave me the tracking number for the diplomatic pouch that was send via DHL. I was able to track it on the DHL site. The packet 3 came 3 weeks after the petition arriving in Casa. His interview was scheduled 2 weeks after the time we received packet 3, but I remember some other people with interviews around that time had to wait a month.

On the top left hand corner of your I-129F, where you are not to write in; it states this approval is good for 4 months from the date of action. The action was the approval. You have 4 months until the beneficiary must have the visa attached to their passport.

I got my NOA2 on January 27th and they forwarded it right away to the embassy in Rio, The problem I had is that she has her interview scheduled for March 29th and has yet to receive that notice from the embassy, but me not waiting for the last minute on things I contacted the embassy by e-mail, I recommend that you contact the embassy immediately either by phone or e-mail as to the status. get any important case numbers they would issue and inquire about the interview date. In Brazil the mail moves slow and it may arrive late. I did the legwork so I would have the date as soon as possible. In your case you may need the time to get the documents assembled that you need for the interview and to make travel arrangements to the embassy.

Does it even go to the NVC? I just saw on the Embassy website that approved petitions get forwarded straight to the Consulate.
