Hi Stuart,

I got the infos from different threads here on VJ about the DHL tracking; I summarize briefly what I did:

1) go on the DHL tracking link: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

2) where it says "reference" type: EXP DD MON 2011A. For example NVC shipped my petition on August 3rd but It's safe to put the day before on the reference number so that would be EXP 02 AUG 2011A (It's important to keep the exact spacing so do not type EXP02AUG2011A or EXP 02AUG2011A for example)

3) in the shipment pick up date range you can put first the same date you wrote down in the reference number, the second date put a day with 2 days of difference. Example

Aug 02 2011

Aug 04 2011

4) click on "track" and a list of all shipment between Porthsmouth NVC toward the world wide consulates will show up. Once you find your consulate (assuming you're the only one in that short time range),you can write down the personal tracking number of your package so that when you want to check again you don't have to go through this hassle again but you can simply type in that number in the tracking link for specific number.

So to summarize, this is the complete example regarding my petition:

a) left NVC on August 3rd

b) http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef I typed:

reference: EXP 02 AUG 2011A

shipment pick up date range: Aug 2 2011

Aug 4 2011

c) found a shipment to Naples,Italy with the following tracking number: 8788095094

d) after I a while I wanted to check again but this time I used the tracking link reserved for specific tracking numbers and so I went to:

http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByNbr.asp?nav=TrackBynumber

I typed my 8788095094 tracking number in the box and clicked on "track"

e) a very detailed page regarding my package poped up; I could even ask to be notified via email once the package was delivered :)

Hope this helps!

 Yea, called NVC yesterday regards our Case#, guess what! it was given, now is my question, when should we contact Consolate if they've receive our file. please everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Hi G/S,

the best way to contact the consulate would be to first call Department of State; they will tell you if your case was logged in in the consulate system. In that case you could technically send them packet3 even before they send it to you or at least when you will email them or call them you will do that with the knowledge that they already have the petition from NVC.

DOS:

1-202-663-1225

Press 1 for the Main Menu

Press 4 for Foreigners Applying To Come To the US

Press 2 for Immigrant Visas (yeah, yeah - we know they're not really)

Press 3 for Family or Employer Based Visas

Press 2 for Fiance(e) visas

Press 0 for an Operator

this info was taken from the following thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/318905-what-is-the-nvc-approval-number/

P.S. since you just got your case number I'd say give it 7 business days to be sure that It's gonna be at the consulate

Are they in the same country? If yes, then your country wide police search will include them, if not, you will need a search in the other countries.
