Your check will usually be cashed first. So if you can have online access to your bank account, you would see if it was cashed or not. Mine was just cashed overnight.

This is strange: when I typed in my case number on the USCIS website, it showed that I am in the initial review stage (awesome). But the note at the bottom said they recieved my petition in feb 23. I just got the notice of receipt on march 11 (email, not hard copy), and they just cashed my Check on march 12th. I wonder why they held everything for so long.

Anyway, quick question: is it a must to have the hard copy of the NOA1? I am overseas and I suppose they sent the hard copy to my address in Chicago. But, my old landlord (who lives in the building and gets all of my mail) has not seen anything. Do I need this hardcopy in the future? I assume it's the hardcopy of the I-129F approval letter that is needed for K-1 processing.

I think it would be needed on the interview, your fiancee should have a copy of it, in case the CO ask for it...:) but I think you better address this question on K1 main thread. There are lots of experienced dudes there who can help you out w/ this....:)

Still can't track the case yet. Mailed on 2/28/2011. Cash checked on 3/10/2011. Email/Text received on 3/10/2011 as well. Anyone experiencing same problem.

I would think that the guy who is handling your case at the VSC has to enter it into the system cause thats when your case goes into 'Initial Review'. So you don't really know what the delay is, but give it a few weekdays and you should be fine.

By the way, make sure you put, or paste may be better, in the exact case number including the EAC when you're checking it.

I think NOA1 is just for your information, that they've received your papaerwork and are beginning to process it. NOA2 is your I-129F approval and probably good idea to make copies of that and send one to your fiancee along with the paperwork and originals of the evidence for the I-129F. Once they approve it, it will get sent to NVC who will send notification to the foreign consulate.

Hi, yes, if you don't get the email somebody might have overlooked that form that told them to send email notification to you. The hard copy definitely will have the number on it.

Don't know whether its worth the email to start trying to go thru the hassle of trying to deal with the customer service center. Especially since you'll probably get the hard copy soon enough. The status doesn't say anything that we don't know.

"Turkeyluver - when did you mail your packet? Before Feb 23?"

I mailed my packet via Turkish postal mail on February, 11. Apparently, it arrived to Texas on Feb. 23. Even now, when I enter the tracking number on USPS, it does not show that it was ever delivered to Texas.

Strange and annoying. But, Yes, I entered the system as of March 11 and my check was cashed on March 12.

Thanks for the info Looky!
