So I just spoke to the civil surgeon and he has seen my vaccination records. He says all I need is to retake the tetanus shot and I'm set (He is only charging $25 for transcription) and it does not matter to them where I have it done.. Does anyone know where I would be able to avail of a free/cheap tetanus vaccine? Just wondering.. :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Nothing about medical is cheap in the US ! specially if you don't have insurance. Having said that..

Don't you have Tricare and can you not get it through your PCM?

Yea I can't get on Tricare yet till I have my SSN, am married and have a military id.. it will take some time! At least this is what we think is needed to be on it..

Thanks! It was worth a try just in case someone knew of a better place.. I guess I will just have to pay for it there :)

Hmm I would go to the office if I was you and ask! they let me sign up and bring my SSN in later on when I got it. No harm in trying/asking them!

as for doctor wise.. You could try if you have them.. an Alegant(sp?) health clinic. A friend of mine does walk-ins there (military) and she says they are pretty decent.

Check into whether or not your city or county have regular health clinics. My wife went to the once-a-week clinic our county sponsors for her tetanus and T-dap and the shots were free. They classified her as an immigrant and apparently the costs of the shots were thus covered.

Our County Health Department gave inoculations for $20 each. The first thing that they asked (suspiciously) was "Is this for immigration purposes?" I was uncharacteristically lucid for that early in the morning, but I said, "Eventually, it will be part of that, but we need it immediately for health purposes." I began to explain that we needed tetanus because we'd be working with metal, and TDap now for later pregnancy purposes, but they already began to usher the fiancee in for the shots. They were even nice enough to update and stamp the copy of her vaccination record that she'd brought from her country -- every piece of information was neatly intact on one form.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I will look for the nearest country health dept.. thanks! :) would have had to pay 70 for doctor's fee and 30 for the shot if we went to his physician..

When my husband had to get his shots, the department of health here did them for $10 each...we just provided the papers from the civil surgeon. It was quick, easy and cheap!

You can get your military ID as soon as you get married and have your certified marriage certificate. They will use the number from your I94 in lieu of social security number. As soon as you have your military ID, go to the local TRICARE center, (for us it was the local Air Force Base hospital), and have your husband enroll you. Your TRICARE will not be efffective until the first day of the next month following enrollment. My wife and I just went through the process. When her social security card arrived I just went over to the personnel office on the base and they added it to her information in the DEERS system and removed the I94 number. Below is our TRICARE timeline you can use to approximate the time it takes.

Fiancee arrived July 26, 2010

Married July 30, 2010

Court certified copy of marriage certificate arrived August 4th, 2010

Military ID card issued August 5th , 2010

Applied for TRICARE, August 5th, 2010

TRICARE effective Sept 1st, 2010.

Thank you everyone for your help! We were able to book an appointment for me at the health department on the 16th. The shot will only be $10 :)
