If the majority of Americans could not place Iraq on a globe, then is saying that anti-American, or pro-American in that drawing attention to the fact might stimulate a better educated nation ?

..and conversely, not saying anything about the lack of geographical knowledge helps to keep the nation uneducated and is therefore an anti-American act ?

Anything which seeks to cover up weaknesses in the nation's education is anti-American and promotes further decline

There certainly is a drive to race to the bottom. This is beyond sadness and I hope the extremists willing to emulate the style of these backwards dynasties here in America come to their senses and realize that a tolerant, educated nation does much better in the long run than one that is at times psychotic, paranoid, and just plain old dumb.

Charlie Sheen?blink.gif

Let your mind fly loose and high and unlike the worms that gather in the places they should not be and therefore get in the way all the time even if they are kissed daily - but they will realise that 'grandiose' is not a word that is usually applied to worms no matter what mind bending medications they have been offered but always refused in my opinion - well lately sometimes but that is just what the leeches say who come and go while I stay

Hope that explains Charlie Sheen and why he would make a fine governor of Saudi Arabia

I call it the dumbing down of America". Even our news here sucks the big one. Most of it is spent on moronic human nature story's, and less then half of that time is spent on what's going on around us. There is never any of the "why, who, how, and what's" on news these days.

Most kids would rather hang out at the mall, or kill off what free time they have watching MTV then actually give two sh*ts as to what's going on outside...or even here for that matter. I can't fault them for not caring, it's when they have an opinion is when it gets bad. Clueless, yet patriotic people en mass is when it get's really scary.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

A universal opinion. Willing to stand up to a symbol without understanding the symbol can invite unscrupulous characters to define those symbols. Horrible. Some people will defend this using human nature as an excuse, and this kind of logic keeps us in the medieval period of our minds.

Bolsheviks - Stalin, NAZI's - Hitler, Commie's - Mao,...right there you have over 50,000,000 dead. Now ask yourself what kind of people would commit such atrocity's and how did so many people die.

It's called ignorant peeps en mass with a hard case of patriotism and twisted ideals. Reality get's blurred very easily when you throw in the patriotism factor.

I have struggled with this for 6 years and given up

It goes too deep

The locals here say I am 'criticizing America' if I say " It's a bit cold here today"

There is no changing it - it's deep down inside and it would need a PHD course to understand where it comes from - but the US has plenty to be genuinely proud of and doesn't need to be so prickly and on guard all the time.

I don't need to be 'the best' at everything in order to feel that I am a pretty accomplished person, and when I am criticized, I quietly feel that I am still well up the scale of life overall - so the criticism doesn't shake me - the U.S. should be the same - confident, not unsure and not needing to be 'the best' always and on every measure.

Even this validation will be seen as criticism because it is not an unqualified statement of total admiration

I respect what you've posted. I am also sure your 'sensitivity' will be the draw of plenty of satirical comments as well. Goes to show you there are some people out there that have nothing better to do than be just as much jerks as they are paranoid.

I have personal experience of Saudi and I hate the place with a passion.

I went to work there and my wife was hospitalized back in England

My employer refused me an exit visa. He said "It's only a woman". Exit visas are issued by your employer, not the government

I refused to work.

They said once I had run out of money, I would be put in a cage in the public square for vagrancy - and I would be fed slops in a bucket once a day. An English woman was already receiving that treatment.

I lived on bananas for 6 weeks

Eventually I paid them a ransom and then I had to pay to put my photo in the paper for a week to see if anyone wanted to claim off me for anything

After much more delay, I was called into the bosses offices and told to lay on the floor and kiss his feet - after that I would be given the visa

I refused and told him to just kill me now

I got out a week later

My employer was the GOVERNMENT of Saudi Arabia - the Saudi National Flour Milling corporation

The British Embassy would not help. Now I am an American, I can guarantee the US Government would not help either

OIL !

I hope the people of Saudi string the whole rotten crew up

Sorry for what happened to you. I thought Saudi treated 1st world country citizen better than the 3rd one. "It's only a woman?". I wish they could understand what the woman means is. Seems they take woman as a toy. Imagine what would happend they gonna be without woman (i hold a very strong bad word for cursing them)

The English woman had been in the cage in the public square for 18 months.

They gave her a bucket of slops every day.She had gone crazy and lived huddled in a corner of the cage

The other guys used to go down there and give her a mars bar and they asked me if I wanted to go with them. I said no because I was being threatened with that punishment and I wanted to keep positive

After 6 weeks on green bananas and under constant threats, I was losing it too. I have photos of me when I got back and my eyes were just wide open and 'out of it'

The boss who told me to kiss his feet was about 30 years old and English educated

If looks could kill, the look I gave him would have been a death blow. I told him I would die first and he knew I meant it.

When I got back to Heathrow airport, there were many arabs there and I felt like I wanted to do them harm now I was on home territory. I didn't and I got over it, but I still hate the saudi 'management' and their culture and laws and their royal family. Instead of trials, they would fly people up to 20 thousand feet in army transport planes and push people out over the 'empty quarter'

The Western embassies are of zero use and are on the saudis side. I saw people with amputated

hands - I saw them on the floor in the market - begging. Slavery is still openly practised there

The UN needs to liberate these countries and drive their horrible cruel 'culture' off the face of the earth and civilise them. Enough is enough. We did it in Kosovo so why not help the ordinary arabs.

Yeah, Mel Gibson would be a better replacement for Ahmadinejad, what with his anti-Semitic rants and all.

You have the wrong country - armordinerjacket is Iran

we are talking Saudia Arabia

Its a bit left and then down some from Iran - or to the right of the top right of africa or left of india

Charlie Sheen is up up up from anywhere
