Why would I trivialize them?

I believe I expressed sympathy to his rage.

You mean the experiences themselves? Why would calling out psychos hiding their psychoses behind online personas be trivializing anything? Word choice... word choice...

It was the underlined part of that quote. There's not even the slightest comparison between what happens here in the US and what happens over in the Middle East. "If ya,could ya,would ya, " doesn't cut it.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I think you misread that same underlined quote...

Try again ;)

What a horrible experience, Alan the Red. I had no idea that foreign nationals in Saudi Arabia had to have permission to leave the Kingdom.

The experiences you relate remind me of what some people would do here in America to their own citizens as well as foreigners not here legally.

I hope the Saudis make it to modernity but I reckon it will be fifty to a hundred years and they will be the last of these medieval countries to become 'first world'

The main reason is that we in the West benefit hugely from the current set up there, and our populations simply don't care about cruelties as long as gasoline does not go to $5

The fact that virtually all the 9-11 killers came from Saudi and yet we won't spend one of our soldiers lives to change things there, says it all

This Afghan thing is misdirected - It's like if Bin Laden had hatched his plot in Ireland, then we would have attacked Ireland

WE should have freed Kuwait and then cleaned the wah-habis out of Saudi and installed Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen as interim joint Governors on behalf of the UN with lady Gaga as Constitutional Monarch. That would have been an enormous improvement and welcomed by the population.

Charlie Sheen phenomenology will soon replace that which came from Chuck Norris.

The US supports a lot of cruel dictatorships and people here in the US could give two sh*ts about it. Some cat getting thrown out a window will make front page news on Yahoo, but some guy getting his head cut off over in Banana Land doesn't even make the back pages over here.

It's ironic how Saddam Huessien made it a habit of killing hard line Muslim terrorist, yet peeps over here actually thought we invaded Iraq for 9-11 and not oil. It goes to show the lack of intelligence that runs rampant here in the US.

Did you think that maybe it could be because we mostly only care (and care is a convenient stretch of a concept) about our own citizens over here? Damn the rest of the world, say many over here.

That's part of it I'm sure, but the major part is that we raised a nation of morons. How many peeps over here were like "ya let's bomb em" when we invaded Iraq ? If we wanted to get rid of dictatorships we could have started here in the Western Hemisphere (Mexico being the first) and worked our way east.

Most peeps in the US couldn't find Iraq on a globe let alone name it's capital. This has become a country of smart phones, I pads, reality TV, and of course the NFL. World politics is not one our strong points as a whole. Most peeps in Europe have a better clue as to our foreign policy's that peeps here in the US. Go figure eh.

If the majority of Americans could not place Iraq on a globe, then is saying that anti-American, or pro-American in that drawing attention to the fact might stimulate a better educated nation ?

..and conversely, not saying anything about the lack of geographical knowledge helps to keep the nation uneducated and is therefore an anti-American act ?

Anything which seeks to cover up weaknesses in the nation's education is anti-American and promotes further decline
