My fiance is worried to death now that she won't be approved her K-1 visa. She went for her medical today and a woman there getting a medical done also told her that they won't approve her because we have only known each other for 8 months and you have to know each other for at least 2 years before they will give you the visa. Now she wants me to ask in here even after I've told her that is all hogwash, so would someone please verify that time has no concept here.

You are correct! It does not really matter how long you have know each other, you just have to have visited within the last 2 years.

Thanks for those fast replies. Now she feels better and is more at ease. I don't see any reason in having her worry so much cause all worry does is causes ulcers and grey hairs, Lord knows that the kids do that to us eventually.

As my husband says....ppl bark when they like what your doing and they bark when they dont like it...so just "chor na" in urdu means leave it...dont listen to it...just ignore those ppl who think they can advise you on your life...after all aren't we the ones who put our own heads on our pillows at night and we are responsible for our happiness? If it makes others uncomfortable they can choose not to be around us right? Hmmmphhh....

If that were to be true, USCIS and NVC would not have allowed the application to go this far in the 1st place. You indicate when you met on your intial documents. The responses provided here are on point!

OMG.....im a filipina too and tell your fiancee to stay calm, she need not to listen to those kind of people. She should be very careful in talking to some people who doesnt know what theyr saying. If she wants to ask questions, i'll be happy to help her out. Ive been on her situation and I knw what she feels right now. Anyway goodluck for her and i'll be happy to be freinds with her. By the way, im also from Vermont Service center currently located now here in NY. I have lots of filipina friends here in US that are good and will never put her down but instead help her out. Wer all happy to give her some GOOD advice.....Goodluck and give my best regards to her.

Well, unfortunately you cant believe everything you hear. Most people in the middle of this process have no clue what they are doing. Thank goodness for VJ and the wonderful advice we get here!

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley

There is a subjectively determined requirement that you have an ongoing relationship. She might have heard that someone was denied a visa because of no ongoing relationship who happened to have met each other 8 months prior.

So she was probably mistaken, not a liar.

It is a little more difficult to establish an ongoing relationship when you have known each other for less time, but there is no requirement for a specific number of months. As long as you met in person at least once in the past 2 years, you are in.

Not that i'm againt you, but law is the law and you have to respect that. And again you never know if when you sent it to Vermont service center you got approved, God is on your side so dont stop just keep on praying. just be honest with them and tell them the truth. Good luck and keep me posted.
