Anyone shipped documents with FedEx?

Hello

I recently shipped my documents over to fiancee using FedEx. Today i tracked it and it said there was a delay and to contact customer service. So i called them and they said the delay was because there was no commercial invoice with the package. Is that a normal thing? Fedex emailed me the invoice to fill out but it states on it that it isnt required for documents or personal items. On the package slip that is on the front of the box it states the value of 1 dollar and that the contents are immigration documents. Im a little worried about this because, as you know these are the original documents they want for the interview and cant be replaced.

so weird. I called them again and explained to them that on the form they sent me it states that personal items and documents dont require a commercial invoice. They told me that customs requested it and on the package it states the contents. Hope wont have to do this again. Seems a little weird for documents to need a commercial invoice. They do weigh in at 8lbs though.

Basically, when you send the package you fill out two forms for international shipping

  1. 1. the shipping form - you declare the package content and amount on the bottom part of the form
  2. 2. the commercial invoice form (for customs)- you also declare the package content and amount for custom purposes.

I suggest you fill out the custom invoice form make sure to include the tracking number and fax it over to FEDEX (Air 21) in Manila.

They will not charge you tax as those are personal documents.

# +6345 599-2801(Clark)

# +6347 252-7575 (Subic)

# +6332 341-2121 (Cebu)

Ask for their fax# and fax the form over while you are talking to the live person, this way they can confirm they received the fax. They are helpful, I called them many times already. They only need proper documentation.

Hope that helps.

Today I was shipping personal items as well and I was told I still needed to fill out the commercial invoice. I am glad I did considering your situation is similar to mine. This was the first time for me to use fedex international but I wasn't going back to usps international. I heard fedex does a great job delivering internationally although it's a little pricey. But I rather pay extra for the courier to deliver directly to my fiancee.

That's the problem with FedEx, they use a 3rd party (Air21) once the package gets to the Phils. UPS is the same and you CAN'T use the post office unless you would prefer it NEVER arrive lol. I used them 2 times and had problems both times! The courier just left her package with a kid who said he knew her in her barangay. After that I quit using them and only use DHL now. DHL is global and has their own employees on the ground there so your packages will be trackable the whole time and will never change hands.
