Reverse racism is a misnomer. Racism is racism.

That is what I was thinking as I read through all of this.

There is no such thing as "reverse racism". Why? Because, by its very existence, it assumes that Whites - specifically white males - "own" racism. We are the only ones who are racist, so if someone who ISN'T white is racist, it must be reverse racism. Bullsh!t. As erekose said: Racism is Racism. NO ONE owns the patent to it.

When using the term reverse racism, my perception of what it defines is quite different from the views expressed here.

Racism in terms of what we normally see and hear of is associated with (some whacko) classifying the value and worth of people solely on race, then discriminatly avoiding those that they have been deemed worth less based on those classifications. In short it's very judgemental.

Reverse racism on the other hand in my opinion is different in that it lacks the judgemental aspect of human worth based on race, instead it's more political in motivation. To avoid the risk of inequality or the perception of inequality based on race, one race is afforded preferential consideration because of their race, while one of another race is subjected to discrimination based on race, not because (some whacko) has judged those of their race to be of less worth, they are simply being subjected to this as a backlash.

I do agree. I was also trying to say that the term ITSELF is used in contexts that imply other things though. But yeah, racism is racism. AND--the *implications* of racism differ based on who is discriminating.

That is why a minority group member bothering a white person is not the same as the opposite; the insult is not loaded with potential for oppression.

not all your remarks, i'm pointing out this one in particular. what you are saying here is that a minority group member can bother a white person and it's not racism? or whatever term is pc today? you need to take a walk down most major cities and see how you might be oppressed. i can think of over half a dozen places within 20 miles of me that you'd be singled out just due to your race.
