This is a really stupid question, but since I don't want to mess up, I figured better to ask and be safe rather than sorry.

I received a checklist letter from the NVC re: sending the DS-230 forms to them. The letter says to "please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents."

I'm a bit perplexed, because some of these are certified copies - like the marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc., and I don't want to mess those up! Did any of you actually write the case number on the upper right hand corner of these docs?

Thanks!

If you don't want to write on the civil documents, I know of some people who used sticky notes instead. That way your documents aren't marked on.

Or you can attach a photo copy of each civil doc you wish not to mark and send bot the copy and original to NVC.

I just wrote the NVC number with a black pen on the top- right corner of all our documents...I said to my self that if I needed, I could always get new ones...I just did not want to give NVC any excuse to delay the process any longer.

Never Give Up! :-)

I printed my case number on those letter address lebels. Then cut them into one line strips and attached them on original craps. Once I had the original craps back, I simply removed the sticker. On things that I didn't care about like police certificate and copies, I simply stamped the case number using one of those stamps I bought from Office Max.

I am suprised they sent you an rfe for that. I didn't know I was suppose to write the NVC case number on all documents and sent all my documents without the NVC case number and they didn't send me an RFE for that. I did get four different RFE's one for not sending the original birth certificate, and three for the I-864 which sucks really bad since I am pregnant and was hoping my husband would get to be here for the birth which May 15 but we keep getting all these delays. But I think thats werid I guess it depends on who opens your package!! Hope everything works out for you and me both!!
