IDK about that. People would choose whatever was more advantageous to them. If collectively bargained compensation was the same as non union, sure people might choose not to be members.

In reality, collectively bargained benefits are likely going to be better than what one could do individuality.

In order to go ice skating at the park in Montreal, I have to provide a birth certificate in order to get a passport (or enhanced driver's license). I would think that to be considered to be placed on a ballot for President of the United States a person would be required to do the same.

Yes, I think everyone would agree with this. It's astonishing that so many people actually think it didn't happen.

Go work at another place if you don't want to have to join the union. There's no difference between what kind of compensation and benefits you get when you voluntarily work somewhere and what kind of labor agreements they have. That's called choice in Libertarian terms.
