I just need to know if there is anything I need to do to validate my husbands Costa Rican High school diploma to get a job in the US? Or can he use it the way it is when he applies for a job and they ask for it? It is in Spanish.

Well that is a question you will need to ask the company where employment is being sought. They accept/refuse it especially if their schooling system is corrupt or not accredited when compared to the US high school graduation requirements.

Hi curlyjes,

I am Costa Rican and I had to validate my diploma too.

This is what your husband has to do:

1.To go to "El Ministerio de Educación" and tell them that he needs to certify his diploma for international purpose.

He will need the original diploma, a photocopy of it and two 100 colones stamps (timbres de 100 colones). They will tell him that he needs to certify the photocopy only, but that is not true, he has to tell them that he wants to certify the original too.

2. To look for an official translator. This is the link where he can find one. with http://www.rree.go.cr/index.php?sec=servicios%20al%20publico&cat=servicios%20en%20linea&cont=576

3. He has to go to the "casa amarilla- Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores" to certify the original diploma, and the translation.

And that is it! Good luck with that.

4. Go to the US Embassy in Costa Rica to certify it. I think this costs around $100.00

And that is it! Good luck with that.
