When you recieve your interview date, is it possible to contact the embassy to see if you can get one sooner, i.e if there are cancellations, etc. ?

We are just in the process of sending back the last bit of paper work to the NVC, and would really like to get a London interview before Christmas.. :D

You can definitely email Embassy for an interview date sooner. Make sure, you mention why you want it sooner. Then the Embassy may grant you one. Don't ask them, if they can schedule you an interview sooner, after others cancel theirs. If Embassy wants and feels it right, they will grant you an interview sooner.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

It worked for us, i emailed the Islamabad embassy , they rescheduled our interview from jan 2 to october 6, Alhamdulillah.

I told them that i am having hard time here in usa with my son, without any help to raise him while i am studying, and working part time.

Hope i helped.
