AbuS' brother had pets from a young age, so he's used to having animals in the house. He was not, however, used to how americans tend to baby their pets. It took some time, but Squeaky has him wrapped around her paw and if he thinks she's in any way not happy, he'll do whatever he can to cheer her up :luv:

He used to get all worked up about cat hair on his clothes, but a few weeks ago, I came home from work and he's like, I've got to show you something:

Ammar adapted to the pet thing quite well over these past years. He now adores our cats as well. It's nice. He brushes them like crazy though.

On a side note, offering different opinions/perspectives does not a war zone make.....

Agreed. I really enjoy hearing every perspective. I love a good meeting of the minds and expression of opinion. There is absolutely no reason we can't all express our opinions here, it's what forums are best for. What kind of place would this be if only one side could express a viewpoint while the opposing side kept quiet? Kind of hinders the effectiveness of an open forum.

What I don't enjoy are the little drive-by snipings regarding my character (including the implication that I'm in fantasy land, which I find highly insulting) or the character of others. Might I remind everyone reading this post that most of us are strangers to one another. I know many of the "old timers" know each other personally and are "friends" outside this forum, but you don't know me or my situation. You wouldn't know me if you passed me on the street. You can think whatever you want about myself or others on this forum, but I respectfully ask that you think twice before offering up publicly your opinions regarding my choices (unless asked), my candor, or my personal situation (again, unless asked). It serves no purpose except to insult the other person, which really shouldn't be going on in this kind of forum. This goes for everyone here regarding every other member. I'm not nearly as disappointed with the reception I've gotten as I am with the overall treatment of all the members in this regional forum, almost without exception. Calling someone a bitter old woman is just as insulting as calling someone a fantasizing fool.

I would like to stick around here, I happen to think you all have valid opinions which I appreciate. It's really nice to be in the company of others who have been through similar circumstances and come out on the other side, good stories or bad. It would be fantastic if we could just attempt to be ladies about things. (Or maybe I really am a dreamer after all for asking...) :P Just my two cents' worth.

On another note, I want to thank everyone for their responses in this thread. Reading them has been a real pleasure.

Passing harsh judgment on those you don't know says nothing of the judged and everything of the judge.

Oh, I see I forgot to actually answer the question in order to be on topic. I'm pretty religious and so I was motivated by character traits which are generally considered traditional I guess. I didn't seek him out though for it, or any relationship at all really.

I forgot to add to the above: Two wrongs never make a right. :bonk:

But whatever, who knows what I really know about it. I'm just old, fat, b!tchy, and bald. you forgot bald, Jenn. i adopted that one some time ago as well. I'm bald because as I grew to hundreds of pounds, I just lay in bed here eating and nagging, covered in crumbs, and have worn the hair off my head by scratching it with my unclipped horse-hoof toenails.

You should be getting him to clip those toenails for you ;)

Re: street crossing-- Ammar does this if there is a large median we stop at, otherwise he just takes the side that comes closest to any vehicles of any direction. So I can say LRH's post didn't strike me as odd, just likely a cultural norm. I figured she meant her SO did what mine does.

We use people movers to get around downtown. I'm faster than he is, taking out a few pedestrians along the way.

Ammar has some kind of death grip on my hand. I would move faster than him if he would let go.
