Recognition goes a long way, even in the private sector. Studies have shown that employees respond most positively to praise and acknowledgment of their hard work. Compensation is also important, but teachers don't get into the profession to become economically independent.

Their was something about teacher's in many schools in Arkansas that where changing grades of students to help them get grants and scholarships that they should not have been getting. Now all the kids that graduate from one of the school's listed will be under more scrutiny when they apply. I can't remember what all happened to the schools or teachers. I home school my 4 kids (2 now older two are in college/starting) due to what I saw in the school's when we first moved here. I have been told if we were away from the Little Rock area it would be much different.
