So I filled out my I-134 form and now i want to know do I need to submit bank statements along with the form if my income alone qualifies for support of my fiancee? I am a bit confused about this as it seems overkill to have to include bank acct information along with paystubs. :help:

Thank you,

If your income is sufficient for the I-134 - no need for bank records.

You just need to prove that income.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

It probably is, However, you never know what the IO will ask for. I think I'd want to be prepared to have at hand anything on the list you can get. Better than being sent away to return another day with more evidence.

I would say that if your income is sufficient, leave the asset questions blank. If you state an asset, you should document it. Don't state assets if you don't need to.

So if my income is well over the poverty line for 3 people can I just send pay stubs and employment on company letter head from my boss? Do I also need to send previous years income tax returns?

I need you need your last year's tax return ( I would include a tax transcript to avoid needing the ancillary forms (1099,etc).

The previous 3 years tax returns are recommended, but probably not required. I'd have them just in case though.

Basically - "yes"

When I sent my I-134 - I just sent the paystubs (6 months worth) and letter from the Boss.

Turkey also required tax returns with the 134 - your embassy may differ in this requirement. (transcripts are the best to go with) - so you would need to check with them.

Frankly, I recommend just a couple recent pay stubs if they show year to date income. If you've got an employment letter too, OK but the pay stubs are actually better in most cases. Three tax transcripts is the best practice but none are technically required unless self employed. I would send the three. They're free.

When I sent my I-134, I included the following: (The more the better).

My latest yearly income from W-2, recent tax 1040 and two previous income tax 1040, my employment statement from my company, pay stub.

Latest, bank account statement printed online.

My vehicle value (KBB) and I printed my vehicle title to show that I own it.

401-K statement

Life Insurance sum

I want the person reviewing my I-134 application to see that I have other assets, other than work to support my fiancee. It might be too much documents but I want the person reviewing my application to make it easier for him/her to make the decision regarding my application. I think of this way, what happens if something happens to me after my fiancee and I are married, I want my wife to have money to pay for her housing, bills while she looks for a job. The life insurance policy, 401-k, car value, bank statements will help her initially until she is able to sustain on her own.

Use form I-864P to help determine where you stand: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf - based off annual income for qualification
