Fingerprinting Appointment

Hi all,

I understand that as part of filing for the AOS I will be required to go to my local USCIS service center to have my fingerprints taken and that when they are ready to process this part of the application, they send you an appointment letter. Does the letter give you a specific date and time that you have to attend the service center or does it just say that they are ready to process you and that you can come in any time? Also, if it gives a specific date can you change this if it is not convenient or would that seriously delay your application?
