No, it wasn't. And coincidentally, there was also no great depression in our lifetime. And no Manchester. I can do without the latter two, the truly free market cannot.

There was no free market when the depression happened either.

There were normal economic ups and downs even before then.

You cannot prevent them. It's near impossible.

Economic crisis' these days are almot manufactured in a sense as at the root of everything they are created by the Government and the continued allowance of devaluation of our currency.

One of the greatest treasonous actions by our Government was the Federeal Reserve Act of 1913.

Prior to the Federal reserve, we had ups and downs, sure.. but "panics" would last maybe a year and then we'd be back to normal growing pains of any nation. We were forced to live within our means as a nation as well. What we couldn't provide on our own, we didn't have, nor did we need.

Now, our economic downturns last for years on end, and our best solution is to keep devaluing our currency even more and more? Please. The economic ignorance of those who do this is astounding. The only way someone would continue to do this is out of complete stupidity or on purpose. My guess is the latter.

So there was the panic of 1907, the Panic of 1910, The Panic of 1896, The Panic of 1893, and the grand daddy The Panic of 1873 which lasted six years. None were shorter than a year.

When you look at the causes of the 1973 panic, it's understandable what happened and actually a good lesson for today to be honest.

Our effects that time were more or less from the civil war. We were a nation re-adjusting to a way of life that required wages for all, fair treatment, etc.. (though still didn't really happen).

Thanks to the railroad at the time, we didn't feel the effects of ending slavery until long after the fact... It would have hit a lot quicker and a lot harder.

Sometimes I am stunned that I find out someone has a clue. If these people here would realize who were the very few that came up with that Federal reserve they would deny it. But again all the politicians that have run for higher office except one is beholden to the federal reserve. I won't mention that one as he is known as a kook for opposing the federal reserve.
