Hi, all.

I work in Morocco. I make about $18000/year + small bonuses before taxes. I can easily make up the difference for 5 years with savings/assets. The problem is that I am living where my fiance is right now. When I go to the States, I will have to look for a job.

For the initial I-134, will they accept my foreign job? Or will I need to go to the US and get a job there first?

Also, my parents refuse to be co-sponsors but they are willing to help and give me money in my account. They aren't asking me to pay it back; it's money for our wedding that we get to keep to do whatever we want with. Do they see through this? I don't want to be shady.

My parents won't co-sponsor because if he gets sick, they don't want to be stuck with medical bills. Is there anywhere that gives clear, concise language as far as what being a sponsor does and does not mean that the sponsor is liable for?

Thanks.

The question will be will the income continue from the foreign job after you arrive in the USA?

You can list the income, which shows you have a work history.

Note I-134 co-sponsorship will end at the point the prospective immigrant adjusts status and gets green-card, at which point the I-864 takes over. So it is possible for you to use a co sponsor for visa, however after arriving in the USA, then adjusting status, you can solo sponsor, if you secure a job that makes you able to sponsor the green-card on your own.

Lastly, Affidavit of support requires US Domicile to be able to provide one, so if you gave up your US domicile while living out of the country, you need to take steps to re-establish it.

Moving this to Embassy/Consulate forum..

No, it won't. I'll be back, looking for a job. But my savings will get us through awhile, if need be.

US Domicile= residency? Then, yes. I have been using my parents' address as a permanent address for the last two years, paying taxes there, etc. Or does it mean something else?

Thanks.

You are fine with Domicile, that should satisfy this requirement.

You will need to show current and continuing income for your affidavit of support.

Without an income you would need to show $18,212 x 3 in assets. Money recently placed into your account may raise some additional questions. The CO may ask the source and the intention of the funds. From what you say that may cause a problem.

Also, Casa seems to use the I-864 for K petitions instead of the I-134. Also, a joint sponsor can be any US citizen or green card holder. If your parents aren't comfortable with the idea perhaps another family member or friend may be willing to help you.
