I have contacted my local Congressman to ask for help with speeding up my petition, since it hasn't even been touched yet. I sent an email but haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone here ever had luck contacting Congressman for help with this before? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Congressperson probably won't touch your inquiry until after your case has been sitting at the USCIS for 6 mos or more

YMMV

Ditto what paycibka said.

Keep in mind that many others receive their NOA2 without ever seeing a "touch" on their petition.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I knew it was a long shot, but I wanted to atleast try. What could she say besides "No" right?? I didn't think there would be a harm in trying.

So sick of people trying to push their way ahead, there are very few cases that are more urgent than any others (sickness, military, etc). Unless you fall under these categories wait in line like everyone else.

My fiance asked this question to the USCIS when he was making a follow-up for our case. According to the operator getting a local congressman involved doesnt really helped the process since the review would depend on the adjudicator reviewing your documents and of course the completeness of your docs will also be scrutinized. Im not sure with other couples who has asked their congressman for help but for us we didnt bother and just opted to wait. After 3 days, we were notified that our case was approved.

Hi there,

Based on my own experience, I will say that it helps somehow, not like a big help but they can send in follow-request and in a certain way 'pressure' the USCIS officer to do some work. Though, please bear in mind that it must be 'after a certain time period' of wait. When I was filing for K1, I waited for around 8 months and heard nothing back, besides kept being screwed over by the officers who gave different answers and unlogical response.

Just be patient. There are a lot of people out there who have been waiting forever.

Good Luck.

Do what you need to do and keep us all posted. We're all trying to get our cases thru... I'm equally tired of people that ALREADY GOT MARRIED tell you to wait your turn. Cut the BS. No one sends their petition hoping that it slips to the bottom of the pile cuz others deserve to go first... Pah-leeez!

That's not really necessary, is it?

Don't you think we waited for our visa to be approved? In total it took almost 10 months for my husband to get his visa (in a case which had no complications), so I certainly understand the waiting game, everyone on this site does. So why should your case or anyone else's take precedence just because you feel like you are too good to wait like everyone else?

Everyone's visa should take 10 months.

Or longer.

Just because some of us are already through with the visa process and married doesn't mean that we didn't go through the stress and anxiety - everyone did! Sorry if you don't like what you hear, but when you post whiney threads complaining that you're so badly done to it doesn't go down well!

I wonder if you realize the post you responded to is not the OP. Because the person you just spoke to didn't start the "whiny thread".

I thought the OP was brief in her question and not particularly whiny. Her question gets asked here all the time and often in a more "violent" manner than the way she phrased it. She got a couple of brief responses early in the thread that succinctly told her she would be wasting her time.

I see no need to beat up the OP. Really.
