I have the interview set on March 14 but the problem is my wife previously entered the US with a J1 visa and the 2 years rule will expire in May. We have stated that in every email we sent to the NVC but they still scheduled the interview in March. I sent an email to the consulate and asked for a reschedule, but received an email from them saying I should send them a request in April to request the interview. So my question is should I just not showing up on my interview date and then ask for a reschedule? I kinda want to go to the interview cause I think they may give us the visa even tho it is 2 months early and we don't want to go there twice. But I do not like the idea we just not showing up on the interview date and I don't have an interview date till April, so the case is in limbo for the 2 weeks of March. I'm still trying to get an answer from the consulate....

If anyone had any reschedule experience, please let me know how it works.

Thanks for the help.

The consulate will reschedule for a later date, you email the consulate here: http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/immigrant-visa-unit-question.html

As for the J-1 HRR rule, you can simply do the earlier interview and take the blue slip, and then later turn in the passport for visa. Possibly the consulate would hold the visa until past the date.

I have no experience with the reschedule but my opinion is never do a "no show" to an interview. I hold that opinion because no good can come from a no show.

I agree. I don't understand why they can't just simply give me another date.....

how does the blue slip work? We are trying to make just one trip to Guangzhou if possible.

Thank you everyone for the help.

Thank you everyone for the help.

Blue slip is like an RFE, they ask you to turn in stuff at a later date, you can sometimes contract a lawyer or person in Guangzhou to handle this for you and act an an agent to turn in and the consulate will then mail the visa package to an address in many cities around China.

This was the case with LeeVD on Candle, his fiancee ran into a double issue J-1 HRR, and CCP, both easily dealt with.

I agree with YuandDan. You should go the interview. Although it will be automatically a blue slip since there are a few months before you fulfill the commitment, you will know what you need to do and do not have to wait for months anxiously in uncertainty.

As for rescheduling, from our experience, Guangzhou will consider to make an interview date for you when your date is approaching to their 30-45 days zone. Darnell gave good comments about it, please see

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/291160-about-visa-interview-reschedule/

Good luck!

I heard that some offices will give you the visa but advice you to enter the US AFTER you fulfilled the 2 years. Should I mention about the 2 years myself even the office does not bring it up?? :)

At Guangzhou now, my wife and I went to the consulate this morning and we were told our interview was CANCELED!! We never received anything saying the interview was cancel. We sent a few email requesting a reschedule for May and was told to request it in April but never given a new date. Now we are planning to request the reschedule in April. Anyone has any idea how long does it take for the consulate to schedule an interview?

Thanks

Usually the appointment letter, when generated at GUZ IV - comes in via POSTAL MAIL.

Mailroom ops at GUZ IV are a bit of 'black box' - the 'tag' to generate a packet itself takes some time -

then the packet is generated,

then some time passes, and it leaves the mailroom.

Other than that, sorry - not much info.

DoS Hotline (call, get a Human) will have information on the status of the casefile, so call once a week from now until you hear about the appointment date. The appointment date will be set PRIOR to yer lass receiving the actual appointment letter (anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks lag).

Good Luck !

I just came back from China. After the 5 hours wait and the 3 minutes interview, my wife's green card had been approved. Apparently I sent enough email to the consulate about my wife's 2 years rule, everyone at the consulate is awared about it.
