New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a slew of tax-cutting proposals that had been championed by Democrats as job-creation legislation and were passed with bipartisan support in the state Legislature.

...

Senate President Stephen Sweeney, a Democrat, said he would push for overrides of the vetoes, many of which had passed with veto-proof majorities.

...

The measures included major tax breaks for large, in-state businesses and incentives for film productions, angel investors, green and historic buildings and financing to complete certain economic development projects.

...

Republican lawmakers, who are in the minority, had noted they were co-sponsors of many of the bills and also complained some of their bills to boost jobs weren't being considered.

The vetoes immediately sparked a partisan exchange. Assembly Majority Leader Joe Cryan, a Democrat and frequent Christie foe, said the vetoes were "disgusting."

"Seldom has a governor had such complete disregard for the well-being of working class residents struggling each and every day to get by," he said in a statement.

...

Asked about the comment, Mr. Christie said: "Being called disgusting by Joe Cryan is high praise."

The governor added, "If anybody should know disgusting, it should be Joe Cryan."

Let them override the vetoes. Then they own the problem.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."
