Wife coming to the US on Thursday any tips?

My wife finally got her Visa and will be traveling to Seattle from Manila, Philippines.

I was originally going to go fly and get her but due to my work schedule and limited vacation we decided to together she was going to travel by herself.

Some last minute things we took care of yesterday;

- My wife got her CFO inserted into her Passport. She must have that at the Manila airport or they will not let her leave.

- I had to got down to the airport in Seattle and validate my credit card. They ask for the credit card now when traveling, international only.

Is there anything else she will need? Some document we are forgetting?

And what can she expect when she goes through immigration in Seattle?

My wife and are both understandably nervous about her traveling alone but i know she will do fine.

She will need her passport with visa inside and her sealed envelope from medical to hand over to customs. OH and some luggage and a positive attitude and a smile. US customs are really ot that scary. I came in Atlanta 3 times and they were great. I am sure Seattle is the same.

Yes i did think of that. We both use Globe, one of the Philippine cell phone carriers. When i was in Manila visiting my wife back in January i activated my international roaming on my Globe SIM and it worked fine in Japan and here in the US.

My wife and did the same on her phone yesterday. We just needs to make sure she has lots of minutes loaded on her phone.

Awesome. Congratulations! Anyways I am new at this K-1 processing, so I will also be the one asking for the forum's input too. My only suggestion is go out of your way to make her travel alone as comfortable as possible for her. I imagine it will be a little traumatic for her. Besides, she is to be your forever love in life. :D

Where my wife exited in Seattle was a little tricky. I was trying to call her from the seats where you wait inside. She couldn't hear me. The door they go out can either exit to the street or turn left back into the airport, remaining inside the security zone.

We were taking another flight though and needed to stay inside that security zone. I had a lady security guard go get her for me because she continued on straight and would have exited.

Maybe it matters which airline too, but the main thing is to make sure you know how she's exiting and guarantee meeting.

The guys doing the interviewing were cocky jerks with my wife. Keep a cool head.

That is interesting. i have been through Sea Tac and immigration many times and i don't remember that. Once you get through immigration you get your bags then take the tram to the main terminal.

Did they take your wife into a separate room and question her? I told my wife they may do this. I won't be there with her, i asked if i could get a special pass to help her but i am not allowed.

Yes, they took her to a private room. The interviewer was on the other side of a glass window. There were other people behind the window at a distance working.

She doesn't remember exactly what it looked like to her when she finally came out, except that it looked like an exit to the outside. I had the lady security guard prevent her from exiting and instead turn left to stay within the security zone. Yes, the trains open their doors right by those seats where you wait for them.

I don't know the airport all that well despite using it for business and vacation travel.

Tips for wife's arrival?

Get a maid service to clean your house and launder towels and sheets. Put a Glade plug-in out to change the scent from Mancave. Buy fresh flowers to put on the table. Have something to feed her if she needs a late snack and for breakfast the next morning. :P

Clean sheets on the bed,and fresh towels in the bathroom. Don't invite family and friends over until day 3, give her space to get comfortable with her new environment. Take a couple days off from work, don't leave her home by herself the first couple of days. Just hold her the make her feel loved and comfortable.

What kind of questions did they ask your wife? How long did the interview take?
