My Oath ceremony will be on august 19 in Panama City, FL

Can someone update that in the list for me? I'm all the way on the bottom. Thanks!

Hello All!! A quick update of my oath ceremony. Finally, I became an U.S. Citizen yesterday July 29th at the U.S District court in NYC at 500 Pearl St..

Here is my story...

On Friday 22nd I went to 26 Federal plaza just as my oath letter said. After 10 minutes seated my name was called then a lady asked me if I didn't received a letter fromm USCIS rescheduling the oath ceremony for July 29 th, I said no, then she expalined to me that because of the last name change I had togo to the courtto get naturalized.Yestarday was one of the best day of my life. I did enjoy my ceremony and I'll be glad to crlebrate his birthday.

Penguin - looks like Congress is not the only organization dragging its feet in Washington! 4 months from fingerprinting to Interview is way out of line!

Congratulations at last, AlmaD (or whatever your new name is). Strange - in the MA ceremony, which was NOT in a Court, it was explained that when the Judge arrived, certain procedural formalities would be completed to make the venue into a temporary Court... so that the name changes could be legally applied. Everyone who had a name change then got a separate legal paper attached to the Certificate of Naturalization which was a legal and official record of the name change. There must be some 'legal' reason in NY why a non-court venue can't be temporarily designated as a court.

Anyway, you are done at last - after a frustrating week's delay.

I watched 'Citizen USA' on HBO (on demand) last night - a documentary visiting different Oath ceremonies across the USA. It was very moving.

Thanks -- I was really beginning to wonder if my file had been lost or if there was an issue with the background check. Guess I'll find out for sure at the interview. Now I can finally brush up on my civics -- I knew it all backwards within days of my fingerprints appointment when I was given the study guide. Didn't anticipate such a long time before the interview but I guess the USCIS were on their summer vacation.

Thank you! Here in NY they don't do it like that. I got a big scare on Friday 22nd when I went to Federal Plaza with my first oath letter . They called my name on the microphone and asked me to come to the front..LOL.I said to myself.."Now what???" but now I am glad that everything is over an it felt soo good when yesterday the inmigration team that was in the court proccesing us said "Congratulations" to all of us and left even before the judge came out.

All I can say is that it was a nice experience and it felt wonderful to be naturalized in NYC with so many people of different backgrounds and cultures and now we are all AMERICANS!!
