I would like to share my interview with you all as well.

I went to the office with my husband. We waited on the waiting room for about 30 minutes until the lady officer called my name.

She had me sit, place my stuff (folder with documents and purse) on the chair and hand her my Green Card and driver’s license. Then she had me stand up and raise my right hand to swear I would tell the truth.

We finally sat down and she explained we would start with the test ‘to get it out of the way’.

I answered 6 questions – which she typed on the computer, then I did the reading and writing tests as well. Once those were done she went over my application.

There were 3 little things she corrected – and I also changed my name. She asked me the ‘have you ever’ questions and stamped the wonderful APPROVED word on my application. It was just like that.

I was tearing at the end of the interview as I was very happy and relieved. The lady was very pleasant as well and said that my husband had to take me for dinner to celebrate. I hadn’t been sleeping very well the couple of days before the interview, but it turned out to be a very good experience.

(and the huge folder with all documents remained closed throughout the interview)

Finally, I had an email from USCIS today saying they've scheduled my oath ceremony! It's only been 6 weeks since my interview but I was starting to freak out that I hadn't heard anything. Hopefully I'll get my letter soon!

All done here!! had the ceremony today, everything went beautiful!!! what a wonderful day this was!! The hall was packed with people, the news was there taking

photos and interviews. I'm so glad that we can finally put all of this immigration process behind us now. What a relief!!

I ask because as I waited before and after my interview (which I passed - without the assistance of a lawyer) I noticed that quite a few of the other applicants had lawyers with them, who seemed to be doing nothing other than making encouraging/inane/obvious comments about the process. I wondered how much these lawyers were charging per hour to accompany people through what is actually a very simple and straightforward process.

The N-400 has got to be the easiest step in the process. If you can read and write English, there's no reason to pay anyone to fill out the simplest of all forms. I will imagine they will probably charge around $50 an hour to do nothing.

I didn't and my case was a little bit out of the ordinary because I had to remove my conditional residence twice!!! Surprisingly, I didn't get asked anything about it. Personall,y I don't recommend hiring a lawyer unless there is something major going on like removal procedings or some criminal ofense.
