Let me see...

I can buy a 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom small house in a California neighborhood that SUCKS for $600,000

OR

I can buy a 5-bedroom 3 1/2 bath home with a pool, 3-car garage, big back yard, etc. here for the same price or less even.

Yeah, i'm oh so jealous.

Market forces decide what land is more desirable than others by making those more desirable more expensive.

So unless you're some kind of socialist...

Yes, that's why Californians have been flocking to the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area the past several years.

When things get expensive, losers who can't hack it have to move out.

My wife and I are this close to realizing we're unable to hack it here in the ultra-expensive NYC metro area. But I'm not going to pretend it's because the area sucks. It's because others can buy stuff I can't. They win, I lose.

of course a lot of that is also overcrowding, extremely high taxes, very high cost of living, etc...

It's not all 'rosy' in Cali as many make it out to be.

It's not as bad as living in NYC and what you get for your money, but it's pretty damn close. Though the climate is 10x better in Cali than NY.

Cali isn't perfect but by the objective measure of market-determined land prices it is clear that land in Cali is much more desirable than land in Texas.

This is obvious unless you're a socialist who doesn't care for the free market.

Because they were too stupid to not see the economic collapse and lost their jobs. Don't blame the prime real estate in California for not adjusting to their lack of funds and intelligence.
