You think our government can keep borrowing trillions of dollars forever, never intending to pay it back?

Money is an illusion, an "human construct", based on the ability of a specie to purchase goods and services, now just a series of entries in a database that mean nothing unless people continue to believe. Sooner, or later, people will figure that out. But in the meantime, who knows how long it can continue?

Well if we don't pay it back then it is a problem for the governments that lent us the money

But now that I think about it, how come you are worried about a collapse but then say it will be great if our government shuts down?

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Call me stupid but I don't think the "next collapse" is gonna be as a lot of you guys make it out. Recessions happen in every healthy economy.

Buying canned goods and making sure you have weapons! This sounds very retarded to me.

Sounds like some people have been watching a little too much Glenn Beck.

In my opinion it's far more retarded to do nothing, especially when the basic "something" cost you essentially nothing extra.

If you went out today and bought long lasting food.... food that you eat every day, what do you have to loose, if things turn around and ahead we see only blue skies, go on and chow down on the items that you stored.

As for me, I just buy an extra $25

in groceries every trip or so, no big deal really.

How much you paying for fire insurance on your house.... what are the odds of your house burning down?

A collapse means the motor is seized, shot, destroyed.

A Shutdown is more like a controlled simulation..... except nothing dramatic even gets shut down.

Because the so-called shutdown is not real. If the government

shuts down for real - and by that I mean no border control, no mail,

no FBI, no defense, no checks to retirees and disabled vets,

no Medicare, no Medicaid, no food stamps, no student loans, no ports,

no food inspectors, no drug inspectors, no contagious disease control,

no VA hospitals, no highway funds, no loans to banks - the result

would be catastrophic.

Since when is freedom catastrophic?
