NYC interview experience: We were called in about 30 min late from the original appointment time. The lady who interviewed us was very nice and polite, but the first thing she said after she had sworn us in was "we are very busy right now and I was not even supposed to be working with these applications today, and I just got your file on my desk, so I have not had a chance to even really open it.. let's see if I have questions but I will have to take a few days to go over your file".

So - the interview at this point was more or less useless. As she had not gone through our file, she obviously didn't really know what to ask specifically. She asked us pretty much three questions - how did we meet, and what our birth dates are. That's it. We were in her office for less than 10 minutes. She told us that hopefully we would hear back from them in 3-4 business days, and that by taking a very quick look at our pile of papers she is pretty sure nothing major is missing. I told her I was returning back to Finland for our religious wedding ceremony, and according to her it should not be an issue returning with the AP even if the GC was approved while I was abroad. She wrote a notation in my passport (which is a bit ridiculous as it's just written on an ink pen with no stamp etc. to validate it - i could have written it myself..), and she did tell us that once the approval has been put into the system, it takes about 2 weeks for the card to arrive - so, I am feeling positive about the outcome, but still waiting for confirmation. I do have to say that it is a bit frustrating to do all that preparation with photo albums, piles of paperwork, mental preparation etc. and then hear that no one has even opened our file.

Anyways, that was our experience.. Will let you know how it goes once there are updates.

And wow, Lille_My, that's ridiculous! D: Fingers crossed for you. I would have been so frustrated! Hope you at least have a great ceremony in Finland!

My GC is in production Let's see if they let me back in the country.. for some reason, right now I am not even worried anymore. It will work out, it has so far. I'll give you all an update on my next entry experience in 2 weeks

Just an update- card production has been ordered on the 23rd of July. yay! How long does it usually take to get it?

Well I have some bad news. It's been over 60 days since they have started reviewing my RFE so I gave USCIS a call to report a problem. But they have been telling me that they are processing I-485s from November 2010 and they are all backed up so they are just telling me to be patient. I don't know what to do but this is ridiculous, why does this have to take so long? I don't know what I should do, I have spoken to 2 different representatives and they both told me the same thing. I don't want to wait for 3-4 months to get an interview date especially since I've read posts on this forum where other people's RFE got accepted within days of sending.

What Should I do?

my interview is today by 12.45pm. its less than 13hrs from now. i cant even sleep just waiting for it.

here is my interview experience. my interview time 12.45pm and we left the house by 10.47am immediately my phone GPS stop working. we were mad cos we don't even know how to get to the uscis building without a navigator. upon attempting to retry my phone that has a full battery went off. man, i was very mad and sweating profusely. the next thing was my wife realizing that i don't even have my wedding ring on. it was unlike me. "jesus" i do wear my ring every min. to cut story short my wife called our lawyer and gave her the direction to the USCIS building. we got their by 11.20. when we went to check in the lady told us that we can only do that 30mins ahead. at exactly 30mins to my interview i checked in and was directed to go to the 3rd floor. we were seated and a man who was about 70years plus called us in. he sworn us in and we sat down. he asked for both of our id's and we handed it over to him. men he went through all my documents one after the other. he spent over 30mins on my documents. he was very polite and professional, he asked me where my wife was born i answered and he asked my wife about our religion believes and she answered. he asked my why my parent disapproved our marriage and i answered him. he also asked me about my ex-wife and i waited for just a short time and re-married. i explained to him and that was a very painful question because my ex died a day after i got my my visa. in all he told me that ur application has been approved. i was in and out for like 1hr 30mins. less i forget he asked me all the yes and no questions. he asked me if i wanted an approval letter and my wife answered yes. this was my experience. we did gave him the additional documents we had. and he handed the approval letter to us. and he pin pointed that u should get ur conditional green card within 30day.

Marriage Certificate from Vegas should be in any day this week.

Did you send the certified copy of Birth Certificate for US citizen or just the plain copy?

Not sure what they did, but we just sent in regular photocopies of the USC's birth certificate, and that was fine for us. We brought the original to the interview in case they wanted it.
