Wow thats weird. All you need to show them is your EAD card, original birth certificate and write down your SSN on the application.. Thats what i did, and no questions asked. I even tried to show her my SSN printout form, rental lease agreement form, marriage certificate and foreign passport but she was like, "i dont need those" maybe it depends on dmv local offices..

Yes for some reason they are strict. But it is what its, we just have to deal with it.. California are strict too when it comes to verifying documents, but not in a complicated way though. They just want a proof of your true name and legal status and not asking for too much.

So the best way to do is wait for your green card, which is im planning to do. FYI I just applied for an ID card last monday. I also asked them what documents do i need to bring if im ready for the written DL test and they told me to bring the same documents that i showed them.

I thought going to the dmv is pain in the A but lucky me its not lol! Bus ride was worth it.. I hope they get everything right for you when you come back. Goodluck! :)

Oh my God, I can't believe this!

I forget who, but someone on here talked about me writing my congressman to see about an expedite, and how it probably wouldn't work since expedite for pregnancy isn't heard of. Well, I decided to write my congressman anyway (doesn't hurt to try, you know? Worst they could say was no), on grounds of financial hardship, explaining the whole complicated timeline, how I can't afford to give birth in the US, I laid out prenatal care costs and birth costs from the US vs back home in Norway, and explained why I'd need to stay out of the country for so long, when it's safe for a pregnant woman to fly, and when the infant could be brought back to the US. About two weeks back, the congressman's office called me, and told me they would try to expedite my case. I didn't get my hopes up, but didn't want to say anything either, for fear of jinxing it.

USCIS called today, they approved my expedite request and I have an interview on Tuesday!!

I am so happy, so grateful, and so scared! They were going to try to get an interview notice to me as soon as possible, but gave me instructions for how to handle things with the security at the entrance if it didn't get there in time. We don't have that fancy list over what to bring for the interview, so we'll likely just bring everything we have, haha! XD Better to be overprepared, I suppose.

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png

Congratulations and good luck.
