For those who have already applied for their ssn#. Did you check the box that stated Legal Alien gallowed to work or other?

I mean I am still out of status even though I am allowed to work so I dont know which to check?

Yes i did check the LEGAL ALIEN ALLOWED TO WORK, and the SS guy didnt say anything about it and he approved me.

We checked other just to be safe. I would assume that Legal Alien refers to GC holder...any thoughts on this???

3/13/11 Mailed AOS package (i130, 1485, i765)

3/15/11 AOS package received w/ signature

3/18/11 Checks cashed. Received text/email notices. Package sent to NBC.

3/19/11 All apps touched.

3/23/11 Received i797C Notices for all apps. RD: 3/15/11 PD: 3/17/11

3/26/11 Biometrics appt notice received for i765 for 4/20/11

3/29/11 Biometrics appt notice received for i485 for 4/21/11

4/20/11 Biometrics completed at Brooklyn office on 60th St for i765/i485

5/5/11 EAD (i765) APPROVED!!! No text, email, or website updates.

5/13/11 Received EAD in the mail. Applied for SSN.

5/19/11 Received SS card in the mail. Good work SSA!

5/23/11 Mailed change of address forms: NY to NJ.

5/28/11 Moved to NJ.

6/1/11 Text/email stating interview is 6/30/11!! Yay!!!

6/3/11 Received hardcopy of NJ interview notice at new address.

6/6/11 Received receipt for change of address.

6/30/11 APPROVED!!!! Review coming soon :)

Yes, I checked that box(legal alien allowed to work). Don't forget to bring your birth certificate and marriage certificate (both should be certified true copies), and your EAD. They'll make copies and they'll return them to you right away.

02/14/2011 Valentine's Day wedding

03/08/2011 Sent I-130, I-485, I-765 to Chicago Lockbox (PO Box address) thru USPS Priority Mail

03/09/2011 Found out this Visa Journey Community

03/10/2011 Package received at 6:48am

03/15/2011 Called USCIS to inform them that all the forms I sent don't have barcodes on 'em, except for I-693, was told to wait for 30 days before we hear from them

04/05/2011 E-notifications received (texts and emails)

04/06/2011 Checks cashed

04/11/2011 Received NOA's for all 3 applications

04/15/2011 Received Biometrics Appointment Notice for I-485 and I-765 (scheduled for 05/09/2011)

04/27/2011 E-notifications received(text and email) EAD Card production in order; Online status for I-765 updated 4/27/11

05/16/2011 Received Interview notice scheduled for 06/16/2011 (via e-notifications and USPS mail)

06/16/2011 Interview at San Jose,CA office, went well but no assurance from the IO

06/17/2011 Received e-notifications- I-485 approval and card production ordered :D

06/23/2011 Received Welcome letter, and approval of I-130

06/27/2011 Received GREEN CARD in the mail, it is indeed green!

05/10/2013 Sent in I-751 application to CSC PO box

05/13/2013 Package delivered at 11:28am

Your status is legal when you're issued an EAD, which is why you're allowed to work. Illegal alien allowed to work sounds pretty weird.

Thats why I said other. On the back of the card it says that it doesnt convey legal status so.....

maybe Im just overthinking it. Im not a legal alien. If ICE picked me up, they could still deport me.

It doesnt say that. It only says that this isn't the evidence of US Citizenship or permanent residency which is understandable.

I doubt ICE will pick you up and deport you because you have a legal document with you that states it's OKAY to stay and work until your case is decided.

Hi all. Not too sure If I am in the correct forum as I'm a March filer, but here's a quick run down on my case.

Arrived in USA, Dec 2008 (K1 Visa)

Married March 2009

Sent I-130, I-485 and I-765 March 23rd (2011)

Biometrics walk in May 12th

Not too sure what the scenario for me is as my wife is petitioning the I-130. With some luck I will get my EAD within a month, then who knows what happens.

Okay, I just wanted to warn everyone that DMV WILL NOT authorize you any kind of ID until you get the Social Security Card in the mail.

My wife went to DMV today, waited for an hour and when her turn finally came, the lady strictly told her to wait for the actual card. So one thing is clear, DMV WILL NOT accept the Social Security receipt.

I hope it helps anyone who's eager to rush to DMV to get an ID/permit.

This is the correct forum for this person, because they did not marry within the 90 days on their K-1 visa so are now a concurrent I-130/I-485 filer like everyone else here!

Their process is like yours now, exactly! So yes beppo, you should get your EAD soon. Good luck!
