Hello good people. It's been a while since I've checked in. We are still patiently awaiting EAD. We are unable to check our case status online (says our receipt numbers are not valid) so we can only rely on text notifications. I am optimistic that EAD is right around the corner, and then after that we'll be heading to the interview with my big, round belly in tow :) What are you all planning to bring to the interview? Are we supposed to bring pictures as proof of a relationship/marriage? I am in the process of making our first family scrapbook. I finished the baby's ultrasound scrapbook last night and will start the family one soon.

I'm happy to see that some of us are already getting EAD and interview letters...I pray that the system moves forward with the rest of us soon.

Oct. 2005- introduced by a mutual friend, hubby was living in Jamaica at the time, we become friends

Aug. 2007- hubby arrives to US on a J1 visa

May 2010- reconnected after losing touch for a few years, our relationship blossoms

Nov. 2010- hubby relocated to the Midwest so we can live together

Jan. 2011- I'm pregnant!

Feb. 2011- married on Valentine's Day!

Timeline

Hi guys, I need your thoughts on this. So my interview will be on the 24th of May, and this fact is beginning to worry me, but I hope the IO will not delve too much on this. I am adjusting from a B2 visa, and when my husband and I got married, I was already on a 2-month overstay from a 6-month tourist visa. Well, I have established the following in my application. I arrived on May, 2010, for a vacation, it was summer time and vacation time from work in the country where I came from, so I took advantage of my off from work. I have a return ticket for June, just as classes would begin as I teach in my home country, in college to be exact. Been teaching in college in the same university for 7 years, and I have seniority if I may say, which when this change in circumstance emerged, ( I had a boyfriend back home who while I was here I've learned cheated on me, and this is not the first time, so while I was away, I sought the strength to finally break up with him and find some peace of mind) I thought of extending my vacation until I met my husband sometime in October (my fifth month) and we got along and I found joy, and the rest is history. There's still some more drama to this love story. We wouldn't have gotten married right away. I would have extended my stay (legally), for perhaps six more months. But since I was staying with my aunt who was against our relationship for some reason (like coz my husband isn't educated, and that he had a divorce with twins from the previous marriage), I felt controlled and wanted to break free, and well wanted to be together already. It was stressful being at my age (28 years old) being commanded what to do, and being nagged at in terms of what time to go home and scolded for having a date with my husband who was at that time still my bf of course. So sometime in November, as soon as my visa expired, we talked as this is becoming too complicated for us. I tell you, my aunt is not the easy to deal with. We talked with my husband's family and told them we were getting serious and wanted to settle down. They were supportive and after two weeks they came to my aunt's house, I was still living there at that time, and asked my hand in marriage. She wasn't okay with it, she admitted, but well, I had the strength to pursue it with my husband especially that his family is there to support us. So it happened, it was difficult still having to stay there for a month more, since the wedding was planned for January 2011. My side of the family did not attend (none of them with my aunt's prodding perhaps). I don't mind. For as long as my mom who is in my home country approved of my marriage. That's what is important for me. So now, I am happy and at peace, aunt-free. LOL.

So my dilemma is, would the IO take it negatively that we got married after just 3 months of knowing each other? Having known this story, hw would you react to it, if you were the IO? Thanks so much. :):):) I'm just anticipating the scenario during the interview.

Hello! I saw that you're also from the bay area, and Filipino :) First, congratulations on your marriage, and looks like your AOS processing is moving fast. IMO, I think you shouldn't worry too much, just be prepared to present evidences from your courtship period and of a bona fide marriage, and tell the truth, and how you guys present yourselves during the interview. I've friends (well, they're both USC's) that got married a month after they've met and they're still together up to now after soooo many years. You didn't have any intent of staying here for good when you came here, it just happened that you met your future hubby, fell in love and got married. Do you guys have any plans of going to the Philippines to have a second wedding? That might also help. I'm sure other VJ members here would give you a better advise. Good luck and don't sweat it out if your marriage is real.

Btw, I'll PM you my cell number, maybe we could talk and meet up sometime. I'm from San Jose.

naaah i don't think you have anything to worry about too. 3 months yes indeed a short time but if you have enough evidence, enough co'mingling things etc. (you know what they are) then you'll be fine.

it all comes down to, IO can't deny you because you married after 3 months, yes I am sure they `might` drill you with questions but that's that nothing more...
