The only thing you need is a driver's license to travel within the continental usa, that's all

if you have driver's license you can even go to Alaska and some Caribbean islands. it has nothing to do with anything else.

god we are on the 32nd page and still `initial review`

sorry but if you don't even have a driver's license then I am afraid you can't travel i mean you need to have some sort of ID. I suppose a foreign passport even would do, but you know I am not sure if they would check to see if you have a valid visa on it or not during `check-in`, you wuouldn't wanna have problems there hmm guess I am not sure then

Yeah Lily is right...If you notice on the processing times, it states that if they are currently issuing a document in less time than their projected goal that you will see the time in months...So for example it says 3 months for EAD/AP but which means they are issuing most of them in less than 3 months...Also I heard that biometrics takes 3-4 weeks to go through processing with the FBI so you shoud start to see some activity soon!

hey sweetie, i know it is out of the march forum, etc xD but have you checked the processing times for hartford local office? it's like 6 months behind the current month.. :( so my interview appointment would probably be this july..im just assuming tho...

and i traveled with just my passport with me last year, but my I-94 wasn't expired yet (CT - FL flight), i was nervous on the way back xD but they just looked if the ticket's name matches the name on the ID given :) as long as you don't travel OUTSIDE the US, i think it's fine to travel with any ID...as long as it's not expired, i think? :D

You can certainly travel domestically, so long as you have your passport for ID purposes (and it is still valid). The only requirement for domestic flights is a valid government-issued photo ID. Either a state issued drivers license, or a valid passport from any country will do. At no point when boarding a flight should you be checked for an immigration status -- the only people that will look at your ID are TSA (and possibly the boarding agent from the airline), and all they are looking for is that your name matched your ticket, and that the photo is actually of you.

HOWEVER, you said you're travelling "from California to Arizona". There is a law that allows Border Patrol to set up immigration checkpoints anywhere within 100 miles of a border - so along Canada, Mexico, or one of the coasts. Also, the state law enforcement in Arizona seem to think they have more authority than the constitution actually gives them, so I would suggest, out of an abundance of caution, to bring your NOA1 with you, because even though you appear to be an overstay, that would likely be enough to show status (in the very, very, unlikely event that you get checked). It's worth pointing out that the same law applies where you live currently in San Francisco - theoretically border patrol could set up a checkpoint there any time. I really would not worry about it though.
