I-797 is the NOA (i.e. Notice of Action).. :) You will get a separate one for each petition / application you've filed - for example, I have 4, since I filed I-130, I-485, I-131 and I-765. Once you have the receipt number for each of your forms, you can also create an account on USCIS and set it up so you get email notifications each time there is something going on with your petitions.

I was thinking that it'll be nice to be able to not have any real rush with the GC application - but now I have a possible job offer (I am graduating in May and was not expecting to be offered a job this early), and I need that EAD! Excruciating. Let's hope March is a good month to file!

hehe, I am such a noob :D

Tell me about it, I have a job offer starting in June, and for that exact reason I need that EAD card in my hands so badly ASAP. Your boat is a week ahead of mine but, I'll be closely monitoring your progress  .

thanks for the enlightenment.

From what I've understood from USCIS, all applications (especially those that require interviews) go to the National Benefits Center first before they are redistributed to the field offices. The NBC does the preliminary checks for the applications before interviews are scheduled.

aaah shoo hopefully mine goes to CSC then

well all of you guys want to EAD to get the job offer, funny enough, I quit my job to file for AOS :) I didn't want to have any issues while my papers in there. yea my job history is full on the g325, paid taxes since 2006.

god i hope i won't have any issues.:help:

Bogart, I agree with responses you got in the other thread - no reason to worry yet, it's not uncommon for the NOA1 to take up to a month. However, if I were you, I would be hard on that lawyer of yours.. He should have known about the G-1145. And he should be on top of your case. Like NYC4life asked, have the checks been cashed? And if your lawyer sent the package, how did he send it? Regular USPS? No tracking? I can totally understand your concerns, we all want to be 100% sure our AOS papers were delivered and received, and you should really demand your lawyer for those details. You are paying him - it is his job to make sure these things go as smoothly as possible. That is why you hire a lawyer - to make the process easier for yourself and to make sure nothing gets overlooked. Though the G-1145 is not a big thing, it is still a thing he apparently overlooked..

I finally talked to my atty and he said USCIS received the forms. I guess i just have to wait and keep myself busy lol! Myopia might be right that some get their NOA faster than others and some takes 2-4weeks.. I feel relieved now that i know my forms and fees are in the hands of USCIS.

nothing for me too yet, oh well it's been 5 days, although some receives their NOA1 in 5-6 days...

people at chicago taking their time what to do...

probably one of the worst thing in the world is `waiting without knowing what's going on`

i wonder whether receiving the NOA1 after 7 days vs. receiving after 23 days makes any difference on the overall process? anyone?

Ive been browsin vj members timelines, posts etc. As what i have read, sometimes its better to get NOA1 on the 3rd or 4th week of filing coz it means no rushing and theyre taking time to review the forms before they send u a notice which is a good sign, i guess.

This one member got his Biometrics Appt on the 18th day right before he recieved the I-797 which is NOA1. Others got their NOA1 after 12-13days then 5days later NOA2.

Yes its exciting when u get NOA1 in less than a week but next thing u know that youre waiting for NOA2 for months. :)

if you had your package tracked, when did it reach the chicago lockbox? Mine was delivered March 14, Monday, but I sent it March 11 too. I'm from CA. If you receive your txt notification, then mine will be on it's away after yours. :)

Btw guys, did you use a box or just envelope for your package? I used USPS box coz I had a lot of documents that would not fit in a large envelope itself. But I forgot to use bubble mailer, I'm afraid i\when it rains, it might get wet. :( hopefully not.

I GOT GREAT NEWS!!!

Just after I sent my previous post! I have received 3 emails and 3 text messages

Dear Applicant/Petitioner: Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXX. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your application/petition. This notice does grant immigration status or benefit. You MAY present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does constitute evidence that your application remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your application/petition must also be verified with USCIS.

I already had an account on USCIS, just added these 3 receipts and all worked. I have 3 files on `My Portfolio` page now. Right now all says `Initial Review`.

Anyone? WILL I receive double emails and double text messages if I enable the `Email Alert` and `Mobile Alert` on this `My Portfolio` page. Coz I also submitted G1145 form ?

Congrats!! My receipt #'s aren't working on the site... Good for you!
