Hello All!

I am an english teacher in South Korea preparing for the I-864 Affidavit support and I have some concerns. Knowing that every case is different I was wondering if someone a little more experienced to the process could lend a hand. I met my fiance here. She is a Korean national, but attended university and worked in the States for several years. I met her over here on my travels and now we are preparing the complexities that is the I-864. She also has a social security number.

My current salary recorded for 2010 on my tax return will show somewhere around $ 27,000. In savings we will have together somewhere around $ 30,000-35,000 and I have mutual funds assets totaling around $ 10,000. I am concerned because I have made my earnings abroad, but I will still show my earnings on my Tax return. My parents home will serve as our domicile. I wish to sponsor her by myself and not seek a Joint/co-sponsor. I don't want to put the burden of co-sponsorship on anyone.

If anyone could help us understand what exactly the consulate may need from our documentation, offer advice, anything!

Thank you so much in advance for your time and effort!

Best

Will your income continue when you move back to the USA? Ie will whatever company you work for employ you in the USA? If not, you will need a co-sponsor as your assets are not enough, and foreign income doesn't count if it doesn't continue from the same source once in the USA.
