In Cuba with Fiance;Have Questions

Hello.

I am here in Cuba with my Fiance and we are in the process of filling out the K-1 visa forms now. But I have some questions.

Is there anything I should be sure to get from him while I am here. right now we are:

1) Getting passport photos

2) Writing our letters of intent to marry

3) Filling out the G-325A forms

4) Writing the description of how we met

5) Signing all of the forms etc...

6) Compiling proof of our relationship

Is there antyhing I am missing that I should get from him wile I am here ? We are also getting him his passport (he doesn't have one) just to be safe. But as far as we can tell I don't need copies of any of his identification (cirth cert. ID etc..) for the I-129F or the G-325A ? Only his passport style photos.

Am I correct...any tips on important things I should get from him while I am here ?

You should get a copy of his birth certificate because I dont know if its a requirement or not but everyone or at least I did...I actually even got it translated to english and notarized..and then make sure he gets his passport already because you are going to need it for when you call to get his interview after everything is approved by uscis..good luck..

Get a copy of his birth certificate, we did not have it translated. Get a certificate of single status - it is called a "certifico de solteria" You don't need a copy of the passport, but get his passport # for when you call for the interview.

well i didnt get the solteria certificate but i guess it would never hurt..proves he is single and able to be marry...but you really need that for when he comes to the us..which will be at least a year before that happens since you are just starting the process..good luck..

While you're at it, get multiple copies of his birth certificate (perhaps 3 total). Later, you'll be glad that you did, si man.

But just to make sure. the initial I-129F application doesn't require that I send in a copy of his birth certificate right ? This is only needed for the interview ?

I don't believe so. I never sent my husband's birth certificate when I submitted the K1 petition. He needed it for the interview (with English translation, not required I don't think, but we went ahead and got it translated anyway since it'll be needed for the AOS). The only birth certificate I sent in was mine (the US Citizen petitioner).

I sent one, but there is no need, I don't know why I sent one - at the time I thought it was needed. It was a copy and not translated. Rereading the guides now, there is clearly no mention of one being needed from his side, only yours. Good luck!
