How long till you contact your REP/Senator?

My wait is still short compared to many, But I'm wanting feedback from VJ's who contacted their local REP's/Senators for a helpful push.

Should a petitioner contact CSC first? I heard they no longer accept calls.

My Senator used to be the mayor of St. Paul, MN which I work for. He may not remember me but I started working for the City in 2000. I had performed many computer miracles for the Mayors Dept. and his own PC. I've been the Cities SYS Admin and Project Manger since being promoted, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to throw out a "Do you remeber when you PC died"? or would it?

So how long before NOA1 before a call to the local politician should be made? Email? I heard Email is never responded to.

Thanks for all response B)

If you're feeling like this so soon in the process... you may want to consider just moving to your so's country, because you won't survive the wait.

You can't do anything until your case is 30 days past the processing dates published by the USCIS. You have a long time before then.

Take a deep breath, drink a cocktail, and relax.

People who filed in March/April were forced to contact senators to try to get information about what was going on because USCIS did not contact petitioners to explain the complete work stoppage and the situation with creating and sending RFEs. We also did not have any communication regarding the order in which they were sending RFEs or the processing post RFE approval. Point is - we had reasonable questions we were trying to get answered.

Since you filed about a month ago and there are no issues like IMBRA or waiting for an IMBRA RFE or trying to understand why your file was transferred, I would not bother with contacting a senator until you are around 5-6 months into this. You have no unanswered questions and you are nowhere near being out of their posted processing time. There would be no point to contacting them - they wouldn't even make an inquiry for you. Sit back, relax.

Hi,

I know how you feel. You might wanna wait for a month or so b/4 calling for help. Our case only took 66 days for approval. I think if you did everything that USCIS ask for it won't be long. I don't think getting your senator involve so early can do you any good. They will probably tell him to wait too, it's too early. Get use to the waiting game and enjoy the stupidity of immigration !!

All I was looking for was an actual time line to wait. As I stated:

My wait is still short compared to many,

It is you my distraught and negative friends of VJ who make someone like me ask this type of question. You see the history of your advice tells all that we are all screwed and to just bend over and take it!!!!

A simple question was looking for a simple answer.

I bet you nay sayers ward of many potential VJ's signing up or God forbid posting a question as they just might come accross the wrath of your negativity.

I still believe and I will still post to ask questions even among people like you!!!

Good luck and have a great day

I think I responded with a Short Fuse! Sorry.

I should not read too much into others post.

My answer is clear. Thank You!!!

Not nay sayers... just the truth. No one is telling you not to ask questions about the immigration process. You just have to learn to be patient with this process, or you will go insane. Why do you think there is negativity? Maybe you should go read the other forums. Not just the people applying for K-1s have a long wait. Only the very lucky can breeze throught this process without any real wait, and it still takes them over 6 months. This whole process is nothing more than "hurry up and wait". Until you get the GC in the mail, the waiting never ends, and even then, you only get a 1 year 9 month break! Hang in there!

Honey, the "negativity" you refer to is simply the truth - from people who have already been through it. The answer to your question is when your NOA1 date is 30 days past CSC's posted processing date, you have the right to contact them. If you ask a senator to do something before then, it will do nothing more than make you crazy because if they even respond to you, they will not so kindly explain that there is nothing they can do. You seem to believe a senator can give your petition "a helpful push". This is simply not the case. They can hardly get an answer on the status of your petition, let alone use any kind of influence to "push it".

No-one said you can't post your questions. . . if you don't like the answers, you can go ahead and contact your senator and experience it first-hand, for yourself.
