How can you spend 2 years researching a US Business Opportunity and not consider the rather important question of an appropriate visa?

The upmarket car rental business is not exactly unknown, http://www.avisprestige.com/

Just the first one on google.

I guess you could make an E2 fit a car rental business, you would need to show the funds were committed, you can make the contract subject to visa. Funds held in ESCROW etc.

Usually they give you a year for a start up and you need to show x investment x employees etc.

If you have a sizeable operation in Canada certainly something to discuss with the Companies Immigration Lawyer.

Dude... just the Business plan is not good enough, there are some requirement that are setup by USCIS does not matter how good your plan is.

1. I can write a billion dollar business plan does not mean anything at all, it is just piece of paper until you actully fulfil the plan and make billion dollar.

2. You are looking to bring ppl from canada to work on your business E2 needs you to create job for American, not Canadian.

3. L1A is for a intra company transfer, not that your company needs to be one year old, you need to be working for that company for atleast a year.

4. you cannot just create a company in 2 countries and transfer yourself to company in US. - Do you think officer at consulate and POE are that dumb and they would not figure out.

As per your post, sorry dude you are neither eligible for E2 nor for L1A.

Forget about E2 for now - I'm gonna go for the L1A so I can get a green card. I believe that I do meet the requirements for L1A - I do have a company that I can expand to the US, and I've been an executive there for more than a year. It's just that I wasn't planning on expanding that particular company, but a newer one started this year. So I wanna know if I can get the L1A with the older company and then expand both and switch my L1A to the new one next year?

Because I knew that one way or the other I'd figure something out. :) Please see my later posts - I'm gonna go for the L1A so I can get a green card.

No problem then.
