Yeah, the article states that she was not immunized due to religious beliefs. You would think that she would know better than to travel when actively ill, however, especially with something so contagious as measles.

This is what I can't understand, sometimes. We have American celebrities getting diseases in Africa that regular people have to have vaccines to travel on a visit need. And then they use this for platforms for support money for vaccines. Our SOs have to jump through hoop after hoop after hoop to come here (or vice versa), yet we have millions upon millions of people flying around the world on VWPs or tourist visas, unvaccinated, what-not, not playing by all the rules. AND WE ALL WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT WITHOUT OUR LOVES.

OK. I've stepped off my soapbox. I just get tired of playing by the rules, sometimes.

The article talks of "thousands of passengers being at risk"; how about the even larger number of family-members (and other acquaintances) of passengers who reside in those cities and surrounding metro-areas?

Its just painful to see when all people care about is themselves! I mean if she knew she had measles, she could have traveled at a later date rather than jeopardizing the health of her fellow travelers.

From the reports I've read, she's American and lives in Santa Fe, NM. This just confuses me.

Against her religion or not, I'm amazed any American can reach the age of 27 without being immunized. Isn't MMR a requirement for children to attend school? Even if she was home-schooled, what about admission to college? Don't colleges require it too?

This makes it clear that she was a NM resident. That would explain why she was flying after becoming ill. It also appears that she may not have known she had measles until she arrived home.
