How long does it take from Mexico?

My fiancé and I have applied for a K1 visa but would like to visit my family while we wait for it to be approved. We would like to go in the beginning of May. How long does it take for the tourist/visitor's visa to be approved in Mexico? Is there any problem applying for a tourist/visitor's visa while waiting for a K!? How should we explain this in the tourist/visitor visa?

Thank you!

When we applied for the K1 visa the time line predicted it be be completed quite a bit faster (late April). My parents want to vacation with us in the US in May, so if the K1 isn't approved yet, we'd like to do the tourist visa..if possible.

When I calculate or K1 time line, it looks like we won't be in the US until June. :-(

Why is it unlikely that we will be approved? Will the K1 application have a negative impact on the probability of being approved for a tourist visa?

More tourist visa's are given to Mexicans than the next two countries combined.

I have no idea of the chances in this case. Apply and find out.

How long does it take to get a US tourist visa? Do we have time to apply for one for May?

Thank you for your comments!

Usually no more than a few weeks.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you and you are able to get the tourist visa. Has he had one before? I know that the US would never issue my Fiance one .. he does not meet the income requirements nor does he have property here, or anything that would be considered "strong ties" to the country. That's just our situation though.
